I like trying out new makeup products and what I like even more is quirky new makeup products. So when I spotted this Rimmel Brow This Way I wanted to try it. It is definitely something new as it is a brow powder in eyeliner packaging. Curious to see how I got on? Then keep on reading.
Rimmel Brow This Way brow powder Light Brown
Brow This Way is the general line of all Rimmel brow products, but I am focusing on the brow powder today. This comes in 3 different shades: blonde, medium brown and dark brown. It retails for €7.99. That is steep, considering my favorite brow powder, the Catrice Eyebrow Set, only costs €3.99. For that price you get two shades of powder, while this comes with one. This does, however, come in innovative packaging.
The actual tube looks like an eyeliner tube, but when you open it up there is this soft foamy tip that is coated in powder. This tells you to shake it up and then open the product. When you shake it, you can hear a little ball inside the tube going back and forth, like some eyeliners.
I just don’t really feel the ball does much of anything though. The more I used this, the more gimmicky it felt. The ball seems to be housed in the lid of the product, while the powder seems to come from the container. So I am not sure whether it actually adds anything, other than an annoying sound.
This is the lightest shade available and I was shocked how dark this was. If you are very fair and have very blonde hairs, this will not be for you. The undertone isn’t too warm, but it is also not overly cool. The product is well pigmented, but you can also see the little chunks of product in the swatch: this is one messy product to use. The applicator deposits quite a bit of product into the brow and I found it difficult to control the amount. I stopped shaking it up after a while, thinking that would help, but I would still end up with way too much product. One swipe was enough for both brows.
At the top you can see my bare brow. I have quite good brows if I may say so myself, so I always feel they don’t need much. I just have a few stray blonde hairs that need a bit of darkening, but shape and thickness wise I am not looking for much.
The middle picture is my brow after applying the Rimmel Brow This Way brow powder. The color works well for me I find, but as I said: it’s a mess. It looks quite thick and cakey on my brows and it creates a haze of powder around my brow.
Lastly, the end result is really nice, but it did need some work to get there. This took quite some cleanup and brushing through with a spoolie and I was very thankful that I do my brows before I do any of my other makeup.
While this product works and delivers a bold and good looking brow, I don’t think I can recommend this. It takes a lot of work to get my brows to look good with this, to the point where I no longer feel it feasible to put in the effort. Yes Rimmel’s Brow This Way is a good product, but it is not the innovative product I was hoping this to be.
