One of my favorite skincare lines of all time is La Roche Posay. I have tried a few of their day creams, most notably their Toleriane Ultra and Hydraphase face creams. When I last spotted the brand, I saw a cream I had not yet tried: Toleriane Ultra Nuit. Since I generally like their products and I was looking for a new night time cream to try, I decided to pick it up.
La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Nuit
La Roche Posay is a great skincare line that is fairly affordable and very much formulated for different skin needs. It was the first skincare line I ever tried that did something for my skin back when I started using skincare. With my skin being overly sensitive many creams I had tried, did nothing for my skin other than irritate it. La Roche Posay’s Toleriane Ultra was the first cream that had a beneficial effect, until winter hit and the cream wasn’t rich enough. That’s when I discovered the Hydraphase line. La Roche Posay retails for €15 – €20 depending on where you buy it and which line and product you choose.
The Packaging
A container comes with 40 ml of product, which is slightly less than most face creams which usually come with 50 ml. What I love about this product is the packaging. It comes with an airtight container with a pump. You need to twist the top to unlock it and then you can pump out the product. Especially if you have sensitive skin this is great because it means you cannot contaminate the product by sticking in your fingers. The container is also clear: there is a balloon like substance insight that collapses as you pump out the product. This way you can clearly see how much you still have left. Clever!
The Ingredients
For a face cream Toleriane Ultra has a fairly simple ingredient list. It is great for sensitive skin as it is free of parabens, alcohol, fragrance, colorings and many other classic irritating ingredients. Combined with the airtight packaging makes this a great cream for skin that needs a little extra help, but that is very prone to allergic reactions. If you are someone who has tried almost everything and every face creams leads to bumps, itchiness, redness or other signs of sensitive skin, then the Toleriane line is a good one to look into.
The Product
I tend to use two pumps every night and apply it all over my face. The texture of this cream is quite gel like. The formula is thin: it isn’t very thick. This is why I like to use this layered over a serum or face oil to add some more moisture to my skin. This is a nice finisher now that it is winter: it adds that little bit of extra hydration that my dehydrated and dry skin needs.
By now I’ve been using the cream since early December and my skin has been loving it. I still have a little bit of dryness around my nose, but for the most part, my milia aren’t getting any worse (which they usually do in the winter time and is a sign of dehydrated skin) and my skin feels great when I wake up in the morning. My skin feels soft and nourished.
The Conclusion
In short, La Roche Posay’s Toleriane Ultra Nuit is a great face cream if you are looking for a night cream and you have extremely sensitive skin. I find it doesn’t give me all the moisture I need for the winter months when my skin is a lot drier, but that is easily resolved as I tend to layer skincare anyway. If you’re looking for a skincare line that does not irritate your skin and works, then this is a great addition to your skincare routine.

It’s sold at pharmacies (in store and online) and retails for around the €15 mark.

[…] La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Nuit – The last product in this shortlist is also the last product I tried. And I am loving it. This is a very lightweight cream which is what the Toleriane Ultra line is all about. I like layering this over a skin essence to really give a bit of extra oomph, but this is a great Toleriane cream that works well for me. […]
