How I wear tropical print

Is there any print more summery than a tropical print? I don’t think so. So that is why I thought it would be fun to show you how I like to wear some of my favorite items with this bold and in your face print. Whether it is as a dress or as a shirt, I love wearing it in different ways: some more casual, some more dressed up. Here we go! how I wear tropical print

How I wear tropical print

Tropical print is fun as it is very colorful and it just sums up summer in a clothing outfit. I love the palm trees, palm leaves and orchid prints that I have incorporated in these outfits. Since the print itself can be quite busy you would probably think that you then need to keep the rest of the outfit quite basic. While you can do that, I hope to show you with some of these outfits, that you don’t have to do that per se.

Case in point: the first outfit. This outfit shows how you can easily incorporate a fun color with the quite overwhelming print of this dress. At first I was pairing this with beiges and baby pinks, but I felt the yellow added the pop of color to make this outfit so much more interesting. The dress itself is already a conversation starter: I always get compliments whenever I wear this. It has a perfect retro shape to it with a tighter bodice and a full flare skirt. I love wearing this and pull it out every year.

The second outfit shows you how tropical print doesn’t have to involve actual palm trees and flowers. This shirt is all about those palm tree leaves which also makes for a great tropical print. The shape of this shirt is a bit weird. It is very boxy and the color is what really made me want this shirt. There is a touch of orange which gives this shirt a fun, different take on a tropical print. Paired with casual jeans and my favorite spring booties, this is a great outfit to wear on cooler days.

What I love about this dress is the color scheme. The black base color of the dress means that the pink of the orchids and the green of the tropical leaves really pop. As if you are walking through the jungle undergrowth searching for wild animals. And while this is only a Forever 21 dress, it is a great shape and quite good quality. Many Forever 21 dresses that I have tried haven’t lasted long, but this has held up quite well.

For a staple casual outfit that incorporates some palm tree print, I love this outfit. I wear this a few times every year. This is what I would wear to a festival or a city trip. The shirt adds a good pop of muted colors and I love the sunset vibes this gives. I remember looking for the perfect palm tree print shirt before I found this and then it just clicked. I would be sad to see it go. Since the colors are so muted, I love pairing it with greys to really make the print pop.

The next dress is what got my obsession with wrap dresses started. I bought this last summer and didn’t really have a chance to wear it yet. However, this dress helped me to remember how stunning a wrap dress can look on me. With a kimono style to it, this dress is also quite unique in my wardrobe. When I ordered it, I thought it would be too much like a dressing gown, but because it fits well, it luckily doesn’t. I would pair this with quite neutral shoes to really make the red dress stand out even more.

We’re ending this blog post with a casual outfit. I found this shirt at a vintage sale in the men’s section. Yes, this is actually a men’s shirt. It has that retro 80s Hawaiian shirt vibe to it and it very much reminds me of shirt my grandad and dad would wear when I was little. At first I had no idea how to wear it, but it works well with white shorts, but I also like it with some distressed blue jeans. Playing up the blues and surf vibe of the shirt, I also added a pair of navy shoes.
