Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation

Foundation was the last makeup item I got into. That is why I am running terribly behind. For a long time, I didn’t really feel my skin needed much coverage, but I have found that a good even base can do wonders for your makeup look. Since I do not need super heavy coverage, I love lightweight, natural looking foundations. After having tried the Naked Skin concealer by Urban Decay and loving it, I of course couldn’t leave out the foundation. That is why today we are reviewing the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup Shade 1.5

Urban Decay is one of my favorite makeup brands, but I had mainly played around with their eyeshadows and lipsticks so far. Their complexion products I hadn’t tried much yet, so I am slowly working my way through the line, buying a product here and there. Because Urban Decay is quite pricey! This foundation retails for €37.90 and is available in 26 different shades.

The Packaging

I appreciate a foundation with a good pump. And that is what this has. The packaging feels really nice and luxurious and the pump works well. The pump dispenses the right amount of product for my liking and I like how everything is kept clean and hygienic. Bonus points for the glass bottle: you can easily see how much product you have left.

The Foundation

With a name like Naked Skin, you would expect this foundation to be flawless and lightweight on the skin. And that is exactly what this is. This feels more like a BB cream or a moisturizer than an actual foundation. If you like foundations that are hardly visible and you can barely feel on the skin then this is a great option. On my dry skin, this stays put very nicely too, but I do always wear primer, powder and setting spray to make my makeup last.

The Swatch

The texture of this foundation is incredibly watery. This starts dripping everywhere the minute you pump it out. I personally love this, as it means this foundation will be great for an easy, natural look. This does not look cakey and as you can see in the blended out swatch: this blends seamlessly into the skin and is virtually undetectable. The blendability of this foundation is helped by the shade range. While the shade range is not ideal, I love how it has anything from super light to super dark shades as well as cool, neutral and warm undertones.

The Shade Match

My main struggle buying foundation is the shade match. Once I have found a foundation that I like, the shade usually is a struggle. My neck is about 5 shades lighter than my face, so I prefer matching my foundation to my neck as much as possible, but this often makes me look like a ghost. I bought this foundation in the shade 1.5, which is pink toned foundation that is nearly undetectable on my skin. You can barely see where it stops and finishes on my neckline. With a bit of bronzer blended down the neck, this blends in flawlessly.

The Application

On the left you can see my face without any product applied. On the right? That is my face with half my foundation done. Look at how seamlessly hit blends into my neck shade. The left side of my face looks a lot more even and just the blank canvas you need to apply the rest of your makeup. It also evens out my skin tone, which is a bit uneven, blotchy and red in certain places. In short, it hides everything I need it to hide, but feels comfortable and is a great shade match that I can wear to a workday without having to worry about it.

The Conclusion

Have I found my favorite foundation? Well, possibly! I have a lot more foundation reviews in the works for you, but up to now the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation is one of my favorites. It is definitely up there in the top 5 foundations I ever tried and that says something.

  1. I love this foundation! I also struggle with color matching foundations. When I got this foundation I asked for help and they helped me find the right color.
    Great post!

    • I have asked for help too, but sometimes they recommend a shade that is too dark as they don’t blend it far enough down my neck. This was matched well! It makes such a big difference what kind of sales person you get.

  2. […] Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation – For my base I still kept everything nice and lightweight. I really like this Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation. It blends easily, stays put nicely and looks great on the skin. If you need coverage, this is not for you, but if you are like me and a lightweight, dewy finish, this is one of the best foundations I’ve tried. […]
