How I wear (faux) wrap dresses

How I wear (faux) wrap dresses

I love a good dress any time of the year, but this past year and half I have been really into wrap dresses. Not only are they absolutely everywhere, I have found they are also super flattering on my figure. So that is why I have gathered quite a few. But how do I like to wear them? Well, mostly, in the simplest way possible. Let’s have a look.

This first dress is one I have had for years and it probably got my love for wrap dresses started. It is not a full wrap dress: the waist just has an elasticated band, but it does have that wrap around front. I wore this several Christmases in a row and I love the satin like fabric of this. The brand on this is Vila and it has a gorgeous egg plant shade. I prefer to style this quite simply and just add a black top underneath, black tights and black heeled boots. And you have a great Christmast party outfit.

The next dress is a bit more casual. I bought it last spring from Mango and I instantly fell in love. It is a grey navy blue base color, but then there are all these mustard colored dots all over it. There are ties at the wrist and there is another tie around the waist. But at the same time, this is also not a full wrap dress, but you can definitely make it look like one. I prefer wearing a pair of Chelsea boots with this as it is quite a casual dress. However I do feel you can dress this up too. All you have to do is just chuck on a pair of heels.

Wrap dresses are definitely more of a winter thing for me, but I do have a few that are a great summer option. This kimono style wrap dress is from Forever 21 and it is so much fun. It is a touch short: it is definitely a mini length, but it is still dressed up enough that you can wear it to work. I like wearing it with a pair of nude strappy sandals to really show off my leg and let the print and fun color really pop.

One of my favorite purchases of 2017 is this green velvet number I picked up at Zara right on the cusp of the party season. I wore this to my office Christmas party last year and I actually plan on wearing it to my family Christmas party this year. Why I love it so much? It is super flattering on, is super versatile as you can dress it up or down very easily and the forest green color just screams Christmas. The velvet also makes this dress look twice as expensive as it actually was. And this is a full wrap dress with some ruching at the sleeves. Bonus points!

The last dress I wanted to feature here is a velvet dress I bought from H&M in the winter sales last year. This is another faux wrap dress. The front is attached to the dress, but it again has that wrap around style. I love how the hem line of this asymmetrical and I love the color of it too. This is the dress I am planning to wear to this year’s office Christmas party. It has long sleeves, it is stretchy and I loved how this looked on. With a pair of heeled boots this dress will look killer on.
