Colourpop No Filter concealer

Colourpop is always an affordable brand and there are so many products by them that I love. I love their Super Shock and Single eyeshadows, their highlighter in Hippo and plenty of their lipsticks. When I saw they had launched face products, I knew I wanted to try. The Colourpop No Filter concealer is one that many people love, so I decided to give it a whirl.

Colourpop No Filter Concealer | Fair 08

This concealer comes in 30 different shades: 10 shades for light, 10 for medium and 10 for deep skin tones. Part of the selection is even specifically for fair skin and so I knew that I would be able to find a shade in this range that would match. Of course Colourpop being online only to me, it was still difficult to decide what colour to get, but I think I got a pretty good match. And it is affordable: the Colourpop concealer retails for $6.00. If you are in Europa/ NL, and stay under €22 when they do free shipping, you can therefore easily buy this without having to pay a lot in duties and taxes.

The Packaging

The Colourpop concealer comes in my favorite concealer format: the OG liquid lipstick/ lipgloss tube with a doe foot applicator. The tube is made of a clear plastic that makes it super easy to see the product inside. So easy in fact, that the minute this shifts around you will see. And Colourpop products have a bad reputation when it comes to splitting and settling weirdly in the packaging. In my experience, you can still use the product, but you will have to just mix everything together again.

The Doe Foot Applicator

There is quite a bit of product on the applicator when you pull this out. It seems as if the stopper at the top of the tube isn’t really doing a very good job. Still, the doe foot applicator works well enough: it is precise and allows you to easily dispense the product across your face.

The Swatch

I already mentioned having some difficulty finding my right shade in this. I had heard that this oxidizes slightly, so I opted for a shade that I thought would be a touch too light for me and I find that it is actually quite a spot on shade. For concealer, I like it if is a touch too light as it has a nice brightening quality to it and since I use concealer on my under eye and the high points of my face, I like it when my concealer can highlighter a little bit.

This concealer has a matte finish and that is something that is truly noticeable. The texture starts off very creamy and easy to blend, but once this settles down the matte quality is easy to see. It looks very pretty on at first as it gives a very seamless, almost airbrushed look. Sadly, I found this doesn’t wear well on me throughout the day. After about 2 hours of wear this would start to crease and look a bit dry and cakey.

The Application

As you can see the shade match is quite spot on. It is easy to blend into the skin and I like how natural this concealer looks when first applied to the skin. Since it is a matte formula it may just be a tad too drying for me, but I felt that after a few hours it emphasized all of my fine lines, looked crepey and super duper dry. I really wanted to love this Colourpop concealer, but sadly it just doesn’t really match my skin type.

The Conclusion

Do you have oily skin? Then this may be a good concealer for you. Do you have dry skin like me? Then the Colourpop No Filter concealer may be one that you would like to stay away from. Yes it is affordable and comes in a bunch of shades, but it just doesn’t work well with my skin. I look about 20 years older after a full day of wear and that is not a look I am comfortable with just yet.

  1. As I suspected, this would be too drying for my under eye area also. I’m amazed when I see YouTubers pile this concealer on! I can’t imagine what the area looks like after a few hours. I do think it’s great that they offer such a wide colour range. Thanks for this review!
