Happy Moments #3

happy moments november 2019

It’s the end of the month and that means it is time to have a look back at what I have been up to this month. Like last month, it was a month with some ups and some downs. I definitely enjoyed myself for the majority of it, but I was swamped by grading and my heating broke down, which was a fun thing to deal with (NOT!). But this post is about the happy things so here are some things that brought me joy in the month of November.

Vampire Weekend

Let’s first address the picture I chose to put with this post. I went to see Vampire Weekend at AFAS Live! in Amsterdam. They are one of my favorite indie bands and the last time they played The Netherlands with a show of their own (i.e. not a festival) was 6 years ago. That is also when I saw them at a festival but only caught half their set. So I knew that I still wanted to see them and it was amazing. They played all the songs I loved most and didn’t just focus on their latest album. They even did a solo track and there were loads of guitar solos, peppy dance moves and a great light show.

For the encore they asked the audience what they wanted to hear and they played 2 songs that were requested by the crowds. Now if you needed any other sign of a great band, then I don’t know what would sway you, because most bands play their setlist and that’s it. Not Vampire Weekend! There were on stage for nearly 2.5 hours and it was a great night. One of the best concerts I’ve been to in a long time.

Music quizzes

Since I wrote my last post I have actually been to two different music quizzes. One was 90s themed and we came in 4th out of 50 teams. Since I grew up in the 90s there were lots of things I knew. I nailed the round where we had to guess the 90s girlband from some pictures that were shows. No one else on my team had heard of B*Witched (not sure I am proud of that, but who cares, my obsessive MTV watching of my teenage years ended up being a great asset). A few weeks later we met up again and joined a quiz marathon where we had to travel from bar to bar for different themed rounds. Out of 150 groups we came in 54th, which is not band but we were super unlucky with one of the rounds we played. But I had a lot of fun nonetheless and that’s all that matters. Music is simply too much fun!

Best friends

Just last week I met up with my best friend. I have known her since highschool and it is one of those situations where we don’t see each other much but when we do… We just won’t stop talking. Time always flies and it is always a good time when we do get to meet up. But you know how it goes: sometimes life just gets in the way. We made the promise to try and meet up a bit sooner than we did this time. So here’s to hoping we can keep that promise.

Cooking all the food

If you follow me on Instagram you may have already seen this (follow me @indiequeen84!!), but I have been cooking up a storm if I may say so myself. I was so bored with what I was cooking so over the summer time I ordered myself a bunch of new cook books that offer lots of healthy recipes. So now it’s time to try things out and see what I could add to my arsenal. I made a leak and potato soup and an all veggie meal featuring spaghetti squash with a cauliflower sauce. My last endeavor was a variation on a meal I already made before which is a gnocchi and blue cheese bake, again all veggie!

Trying all the makeup

You will have seen my New York vlog and possibly also my haul. So that means that it was time to try all the bits I bought and take pictures of them so I can start reviewing them on my blog and Youtube channel. That means I have had a lot of fun trying all this new makeup I bought while I was away. By now I have tried out pretty much everything so stay tuned for all the reviews that are to come to a screen near you.

What has your month been like?
