The Body Shop Aloe Vera Face Wash

It’s been a while since I last reviewed some skincare, but today I am bringing it back with a vengeance. Because today’s review is all about one of my favorite skincare items. The Body Shop is one of my favorite brands for skincare to begin with and the Aloe Vera line by them especially. The line is formulated specifically for sensitive skin and was the first skincare line I ever found that worked for me. I have reviewed several products from the line, but one of my favorites I had not yet gotten round to. So today a closer look at The Body Shop Aloe Calming Foaming Wash.

The Body Shop Aloe Vera Foaming Face Wash // Review & Swatch

One reason I really like TBS’ skincare is that it is quite affordable and still does what it needs to do. This particular product retails for €12 which is quite affordable for face wash as some other brands have similar products for a much higher price. This face wash is quite special as it is a foaming face wash which is a product you don’t see very often. Another great foaming face wash for sensitive skin is by Decubal, which is even richer than this one.

The Packaging

Another reason why I like this face wash is the super practical packaging. You can clearly see how much product is left and you pump out the product with a sturdy pump. There is a cap that keeps the pump clean and safe from bacteria and so this is a product that is easy to use. In the bottle you can see a clear liquid and it starts to foam up as you pump it out of the packaging.

The Pump

So it is the pump that makes the product foam up and not when you apply it to your face. One or two pumps is enough for your entire face. The product is great for taking off makeup or a quick overall cleanse. That said, for a product specifically for sensitive skin this may not be the best as there are some ingredients that could not work. Then again, I have been using this for years and it has never made my skin feel dry or gave me an allergic reaction.

The Ingredients

Aqua, Pentylene Glycol, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Polyglyceryl-2 Caprate, Polysorbate 20, Coco-Glucoside, Levulinic Acid, p-Anisic Acid, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Hydroxide, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Citric Acid.

Because when you look at these ingredients there is SLS in this which is not a great ingredient for your skin. However, I think that because it foams up as it comes out of the packaging that the ingredient does not have that much effect on the workings of the product. Other than that this is a quite simple product. There is no added fragrance which is a plus. So there are pros and cons to this product, but if you have sensitive skin it is definitely worth a try.

The Swatch

When you pump this out, the product comes out as a lightweight foam that easily takes off makeup. I like using this mainly in the shower as it makes for a great, quick cleans. I have no trouble taking off my eye makeup and waterproof mascara with this and it doesn’t sting my eyes, which is something most cleansers do.

My Final Thoughts

After having used so many other cleansers for a good year or two, I can clearly compare this to other cleansers. Most of them are just too stripping on my skin or burn my eyes and are not for me. So for me The Body Shop Aloe Vera Foaming Face Wash is simply the best face wash I have ever found. It doesn’t dry out my skin and doesn’t aggravate it or cause an allergic reaction. Yet it still takes off makeup and cleanses my skin well enough and that’s exactly what I need this product to do.

What is your favorite cleanser?
