If there is one affordable makeup brand that does great blushes it is Essence. But as well as they do them, that is also how easily they discontinue them. Which is a pity, because this means that a great product is being done away with, while you never know what the replacement will be like. In their line they have done several blushes that I loved. Their Matt Touch blush is one of my top 10 favorite blushes of all time. Will the newly released The Blush be as good?
Review: Essence The Blush 10 Befitting
Let’s just start at the beginning shall we? Yes, Essence changes their line every 6 months, for better or for worse! In any case the price point hasn’t changed. This blush costs a mere €2.59 which easily makes this one of the most affordable blushes on the market. The question of course then is: is it any good? Well one thing that is good about this blush apart from the price point is that it comes in 6 shades. I think that may be more than Essence has every done.
What does this blush have to offer?

Not much at first glance perhaps, but this is why I love Essence so much. They do incredibly fuss free packaging so all the attention can go to the product inside. This is a small, compact little product. Granted, it looks and feels cheap with a clear plastic compact that feels like it might break, but that also makes this perfect for travel. Its small size makes it super easy to just chuck in a bag and let that be that.
What does the blush swatch like?

So if the blush itself isn’t too interesting looking then all its power has to lie with the product itself. Out of the 6 shades, 10 Befitting was the one that appealed to me the most as it is a pinky mauve and you know how I feel about pinky mauve blushes! Yup, that would be my favorite blush shade. When you swatch this you can see how pigmented this is, yet it still blends beautifully onto the face. It stays on my cheeks a good while as well. I never have much trouble with blushes fading on me, so for me this stays on all day.
What does this blush look like on the cheeks?

Like browny, mauvy, pinky goodness! This blush is one that is perfect for everyday wear. It is a very neutral shade that just goes with many different looks. It is one of those blushes you can just slap on and you’ll just know it is not overdone nor will it make you look like a clown. In short, this is a great staple everyday blush that you can get a lot of use out of.
My final thoughts

The Essence The Blush is a handy little product to own for sure and yet I ended up decluttering mine already. The reason? It is very similar to the Matt Touch blush I already owned and that I like just a hair better as the shade is even more perfect for me. Why would I need to own two blushes by the same brand in near identical shades? It didn’t make any sense to me. Because this blush and the Satin and Matt Touch blushes Essence used to do are identical to me in shade, texture and utility. This is simply Essence’s latest rendition of their standard blush formula.
Would I recommend Essence’s The Blush?
I would if you don’t own any Essence blushes yet and you want to own one. Or if you are a newbie to makeup or simply don’t want to spend too much money on a blush then this is a very safe bet. Given the price point you can simply do no wrong with this. However, if you already own an Essence blush then there is no need to run out to the store and get one as I feel this blush is identical to the blushes they already used to do. In short, this is a fuss free, affordable blush that gets the job done.
