Make Up Revolution Soap Styler review

Make Up Revolution Soap Styler Soap Brows brow gel review swatch makeup look application natural brows

I am not someone who usually experiments much with their brows. I get my brows threaded at the same place by the same lady and I always do the same thing. I use a brow pencil to quickly fill in my brows and I use a brow gel to set them in place. My favorites have been the same for years and I do try different things, but really the Soap & Glory Archery brow pencil and Essence Make Me Brow have remained my favorites for years. So I find it difficult to really love anything new. How do I feel about the Make Up Revolution Soap Styler?

Review: Makeup Revolution Soap Styler Soap Brows

So this is quite a different product for me and it’s a product that you really don’t have to buy from a makeup brand. Now the original product Soap Brows retails for €17.50, but this Make Up Revolution version retails for €6.99 which is much more affordable. However, if you want to get the look all you need is a bar of clear soap and a spoolie or an old, clean mascara wand and you can do the exact same thing for €0.50. So no need to buy this, but I do appreciate that this comes with a brush and a mirror.

What does this product have to offer?

So this is a soap bar type of brow product. In a small compact you get a hard bar of ‘soap’ that is quite difficult to move around. This is not a creamy or jelly like product, but it is completely set. The only way to use it is if you wet it. The compact comes with a small mirror and a brush that looks a bit like a toothbrush. I appreciate that this seems like a complete set. When I tried the Catrice Brow Fix Soap Stylist it came with nothing so I do appreciate that this comes with an applicator.

How does this product work?

What you get is pretty much a clear brow gel. It is a bit more of a faff to use compare to a brow gel. What I like to do is wet the brush, rub that across the surface of the soap and then apply what is on the brush to both brows, going from one brow to another to ensure an even application. I would recommend using this first as the wetness of the brush can mess up foundation or concealer that is applied close to the brows. So what I like to do is when I use this is change up the steps in my makeup routine a bit. As this is messy I apply this, do my base makeup and then apply the brow color. My brow pencil has a spoolie on the end which I then use to brush through the brows and I feel that ‘reactivates’ the fluffy look.

What does this product look like on the brows?

Now if you love a fluffy brow, this product is great. If you get the hang of applying it and get the amount product just right this is very pretty on. I do think that you easily get too much product in one spot of the brow and the level of mess this creates means you do have to start your brow routine first and apply color later. If you don’t you will just darken the soap bar and I also feel this product works best if you have no other product on. The brow pencil will ‘catch’ on better too as it will be applied over the soap. When you apply the soap over the pencil I feel I lift up some of the product and I create gaps where I don’t want them. So this is a product that comes with some instructions, but if you don’t mind that then this is really nice.

My final thoughts

The Make Up Revolution Soap Styler is a really nice product and I like it a lot more than I thought I would. Yes, it takes more brainspace to use this in the morning. However, I have to wet my sponge anyway, so then I just take this in my bathroom with this and since I have to use it first, it really isn’t in the way. So I have found it quite easy to wedge it into my makeup routine and I quite like the result. I am curious to see how long this will last. It comes with 5 grams of product which sounds like a lot, but I feel this might now last that long as you have to get quite a bit of stuff on your brush to make for a good application. Not to mention the fact that the brush is already starting to look very grubby after just a week of regular usage.

Would I recommend the Make Up Revolution Soap Styler?

If like me you want to try something new in the brow department than this is affordable and doesn’t break the bank. While you can get the same effect for much cheaper, I like how you get a small compact that is easy to use. I mean having a bar of soap on your vanity just isn’t as easy and this just makes it much more user friendly. So I appreciate that. I like the product but I am not sure I would repurchase this, just because it does require a bit more effort to use the product.

Have you tried soap brows before?
