Viseart is a brand that’s been quite hit n miss for me. I tried their Sultry Muse 12 pan palette a few years ago and it just wasn’t my favorite. I have since decluttered it, but have tried some more products from the brand since then. The reason? They have been doing palettes with a bit more variation in textures and also a lot more curated than those larger 12 pans that comes with heaps of product. For consumers, that’s much more manageable so that’s why I decided I wanted to give the brand another chance. My first stop shop? The Petit Pro 3.
Review: Viseart Petit Pro 3 eyeshadow palette
My one reason for not loving my Sultry Muse palette more was the price point. Yes it came with a tonne of product, but at nearly €80 a pop I just didn’t feel the palette was worth it. I was hoping the smaller Petit Pro palettes would not only be smaller in terms of pan sizes, but that the prize to quality ratio would be more up my street. And it was. At €29.50 this is still not a cheap palette considering how much product you get, but I think it is better as an entry level Viseart palette than the much larger 12 pan palettes.
What does this palette have to offer?
When you look into Viseart it is good to know they are a brand that does many different takes on what are essentially neutral palettes. Yes they do some colorful shades too, but for the most part their shade ranges are quite muted and wearable. They have definitely on the high end/ luxury end of the spectrum price point wise. The brand tries to give off a French vibe, but it may also be good to know that this is a US based brand. Their formula is quite soft and easy to work with and in the Petit Pro 3 you get a range of mauves and a pop of some muted greens.
What is the color story like?
So Viseart is not the brand to go to if you are looking for a trendsetting new color story. Instead the brand focuses on wearable color stories that are great for everyday and still easy to put a good look together with a bit of interest to it. The Petit Pro palettes all feature a full row of mattes and a full row of shimmers. The Petit Pro 3 was the first one that didn’t just feature browns, but here we get some plums, pinks, bronzes, mauves and greens. It is a good blend of colors and perfect for office jobs in many different fields.
How do these shadows swatch?
The Viseart Petit Pro 3 eyeshadow palette is one that is very consumer friendly. The mattes are very blendable and that was my main reason for wanting to try this. The Sultry Muse just wasn’t my thing as it featured the same level of satin shimmer in each shade. I hadn’t used their mattes yet, but I had heard great things about it and I have to agree that these mattes are some of the easiest to work with I have ever found. They can blend a way a little bit but the shades build up easily and it’s a formula that I would say works best if you, like me, like to build a look as you, rather than favoring intense pigmentation. The shimmers are smooth and creamy feeling and have much more vibrancy to them than the shimmers in the Sultry Muse. So let’s have a look at the way these apply to the eye.
How do these shadows apply?
When I review an eyeshadow palette, I like to go in with all the different shades before making up my mind. Since this palette is just and 8-pan I figured I could use a few of these on the top lid and a few on the bottom lid to create a look. Now I can’t be exact on the shade names of each shade as Viseart only lists those on the box. However, I used the green shimmer on the lid and the pinky shimmer is on the lower lash line together with the bronze. I used the two medium toned mattes in the crease (one to create depth, one to blend) and I used the matte cream to blend things out even more. The dark green matte is used here as a bit of subtle liner and the lightest shimmer is in the inner corner. The result? A soft, neutral look but with a bit more oomph.
My final thoughts
As you can see, the Viseart Petit Pro 3 is a soft neutral palette with a twist. The greens aren’t overly green making this not too in your face. The result is a wearable, great for everyday look. Perhaps not everyone’s cup of tea, but I like this sort of thing a lot to wear to work as it will just always look good. And that’s how I feel about this palette. Is this the most revolutionary makeup product I have ever tried? No, but it is a solid one that I think you can get a lot of use out of if you need something quick and easy. The formula is super easy to work with and the small size means you can easily take this with you when you travel or just want to have some makeup in your makeup bag for quick touch ups.
Would I recommend the Viseart Petit Pro 3 eyeshadow palette?
I really like the Viseart Petit Pro 3, but because of this palette I decided to try some more and this is not my favorite Viseart palette. That honor would befall the Viseart Violette Etendu as the color story is much more up my street. That said, if this color story is totally your vibe, then this is a good purchase to make. The palette isn’t talked about much but for everyday wear this is a stunning palette for many different people.
