In Catrice’s recent Clean ID limited edition collection, they released another, new bronzer. They already do a Clean ID bronzer and I was curious to see how these would differ. These definitely aren’t the same and I think I like this new version much better. If you can still find it will depend on where you live as I have only ever seen this product being sold online through EU official Catrice stockists. But let’s have a look at this product first!
Review Clean ID Mineral Bronzer 010 Light
The original bronzer that I tried before is a bit cheaper than this one. That one retails for €4.99 whereas this one retails for €5.95. That is just a euro more but you get nearly three times the amount of product. The original Clean ID bronzer that is still for sale comes with 7 grams of product and in 2 shades. This new version has 18 grams of product and also comes in two shades. Now this being Catrice, the shade selection is not ideal as you will see when we talk about the depth of the shade. But first let’s have a closer look at this product.
What does this product have to offer?

First of all, this item is part of Catrice’s Clean ID line. This line promises to be fee from microplastics, mineral oils, parabens and other nasties. The packaging is also cardboard to make it easier to recycle the packaging and the formulas in this line are also vegan. In short, a product that plays into the current tendency to look for more sustainable products. Ethical claims aside, it still needs to be a good product and I was very happy when I first spotted this as this product is lovely in terms of its color. Let’s have a closer look.
What is the shade of this bronzer like?

Catrice bronzers have never been my favorite. Why? Because they are usually too orange, too deep and therefore not great for my pale skin. They usually only do one or two shades for each line they do so if you are very fair or very dark, they don’t really cater to your skin tone. That is, with this line I feel Catrice has finally managed to create a bronzer that is perfect for pale skin. This bronzer is not only on the more cool toned side, it is also very very light! So that is a winner in my book. And let’s be real here, that pattern on the bronzer that is of course also something that I truly truly love about this product.
How does this bronzer swatch?

Tadah! You weren’t going to believe me right? But yes, this may very well be Catrice’s lightest bronzer to date. It has a more yellow undertone (which I love) and I have been finding this very easy to throw on. Now I am not as tanned this year as I was last year as our spring was a bit wishy washy and not that sunny, so I didn’t catch much sun yet. So I hope to make up for that in the next few weeks. However, I think that by that time, this bronzer may actually be too light to me. I know! Shocker, a bronzer that is too light for me doesn’t usually happen.
How does this bronzer apply to the face?

As you can see here, even though the swatch makes it look very light, on the cheeks it works very well. It has the right undertone to give me just a bit of color but it’s not muddy nor does it look like it is too much. This blends very easily on the skin and I like to go in with a stipple brush any way when I apply bronzer so that helps with toning down the shade too. I just love how this adds a little bit of depth to my face, but it still looks natural and like my skin. For a drugstore bronzer that is a great feat.
My final thoughts

This Catrice Clean ID bronzer really surprised me. I was so ready to say this bronzer would not work as I have felt so many Catrice bronzers were just a bit lacking. However, for my pale skin this lightest shade works really really well. However, I do think with just 2 shades available if you have anything deeper than a light to medium skin tone, this bronzer will not work for you. Now that Catrice has decided to make shades for pale people, they now need to figure out how to do shades for deep skin tones too.
Would I recommend the Catrice Clean ID bronzer?
Remember: there are two of these by now and as I was searching for this product online, I had difficulty finding it. So I am not even sure if it still available. The first version I liked too, but that is definitely not as light as this one. So between the availability (or lack thereof) and the shade range (or the lack thereof) I find it difficult to recommend this product. Yes, I love mine and I will definitely keep this around as my one Catrice bronzer from now on, but if you can’t get it or can’t find a shade that’s right for others, I don’t feel comfortable raving about this too much.
