The newest addition to the Catrice Pro Slim family is the Hint of Mint eyeshadow palette. I already reviewed all of the other 6 palettes in this line up in a roundup video but there are also individual reviews up with many of these here on the blog. Not all of them are created equal, so the question is: is the Hint of Mint palette one of the good ones or one of the not so great ones? Let’s find out!

Review: Catrice Pro Slim Hint of Mint eyeshadow palette

When it comes to palettes, Catrice isn’t the most reliable brand. Over time, I have tried many and Catrice eyeshadow quality is just a bit hit n miss. So the question is always how great the quality is going to be. Some of the Pro Slim palettes are excellent. Not even just for the price point, but actually even compared to more high end shadows. At just €9.95 this is a steal if it is one of the good ones, especially because like some of the previous launches this is a more unique color story than some of the other palettes Catrice has done. Let’s get stuck in.

What does this have to offer?

In case you haven’t tried one of the Catrice Pro Slim eyeshadow palettes, you should know that these palettes contain 14 shades that are all quite neutral. They have done a rosy and warm toned version first, then released a more unique one in the Vintage Soul palette. The next launch was another tandem launch of a lavender and peach themed palette. Last summer they released a neutral palette containing some khakis. And now we hget a neutral palette with a few minty green shades. In short, these are cleverly done, are at a drugstore palette, the palettes have a sleek design and some of these have outstanding quality.

What is the color story like?

Named the Hint of Mint, this palette lives up to the name. The majority of the shades are neutral shades with a few deeper, reddish toned browns thrown in the mix. There are three actual mint shades and one neutral that has a green marble running through it. I really like the way this palette comes together as well: there are 8 mattes and 6 shimmers which I think is a good divide. The shimmers are quite similar in intensity and there aren’t that many textures going on. The mattes feel creamy smooth and the shimmers sparkle quite nicely but may need a finger to build them up to full intensity.

How does the palette swatch?

In a swatch this may seem a little lackluster. The only matte mint colored shade isn’t the most intense shade, so if you want to get that build up to intensity it is good to layer it over a white or mint colored base. The other mattes all swatch beautifully and there is a good level of depth in the deeper mattes which makes this one of the more versatile offerings in the line. The hsimmers are mainly neutrals that look pretty. The lightest shimmer also has a bit of a green touch to it, which makes it great for the inner corner. My favorite shade hands down is that darker greenish teal shimmer and the reddish toned browns for sure.

3 Looks, 1 Palette

Yes, I am bringing back eyeshadow palette reviews in full force and I will be showing you three looks I did with this palette. I made one very neutral look, one look that is a bit deeper and smokey and of course we had to do an all mint green look too, just to test it out. Between the three looks, I have used all 14 shades in the palette.

Look 1: neutral

If you saw my Catrice first impression using the products from the new Spring/ Summer 2022 collection, then this look may be familiar. Yes, this is the makeup look I ended up with after trying a full face of new Catrice products. And the eye look was one I was very happy with. The lid shade here is Charm, which did get hard pan quite quickly, but with a finger it was easy enough to build it up and get it to full intensity. Of course I couldn’t pass up those greens, so I made this a neutral look, but with a pop of green on the lower lash line.

Look 2: smokey

What really drew me intot his palette though were those reddish toned browns. They really remind me of some of the shades in the Nabla Side by Side eyeshadow palette. And these shades is really where this palette is at for me. The shades are deep and smokey and add an unexpected touch to this palette that otherwise would have been quite bland. This is the part of the palette that gives you versatility and that will make this palette perfect for people with many different skin and undertones.

Look 3: Minty greens

But we can’t do a review of this palette without an all mint green look. While this isn’t the most exciting look, I think it still came out very nicely. The mint green matte took some building up and I probably wouldn’t use it in the crease again, but more so on the lower lash line or layered underneath some of the shimmers. As a stand alone shade it isn’t the best and if you really want that matte to pop you’re going to have to layer it over a sticky light base that is white or mint green for it to truly shine. The two green toned shimmers do work really well and really make this look for me.

My final thoughts

The Catrice Pro Slim Hint of Mint eyeshadow palette is a great one! It is a fun mix of neutrals with a good undertone and a pop of mint green. I would recommend sticking to that. If you were hoping these mint greens to be showstopping than you will be disappointed, but they are still workable even if you have to be a bit more patient or put in a bit more effort. Just know that going into this and you will have yourself an interesting neutral palette that can work for many different occasions.

Would I recommend the Catrice Pro Slim Hint of Mint palette?

This is a good palette. It is a very solid option in Catrice’s line and I think a good addition to the current offerings. It is a more unique color story and the price point is definitely worth it. If you buy this, I dont think you will be disappointed provided you like this color story and take into account that some of the shades may need a bit of work for them to go on. If you do that, this is a good palette that will be a good everyday go to.

What do you think of the new Catrice Pro Slim palette?
