Catrice Better Than Fake Lips Volume Gloss review

As part of the new Catrice Spring/ Summer 2022 line up, Catrice has launched a new range of glosses. They also came out with an actual lip plumper in the same line, but these glosses mainly promise to hydrate the lips. So it may be good to point that out from the start, as I saw some people asking me in the comments of my first impression video whether these tingled. These do not. They are just a gloss, and a gloss that I ended up liking a lot more than I had expected. Let’s get stuck in the review.

Review: Catrice Better Than Fake Lips Volume Gloss

As with many Catrice lip products, these are affordable and you just never know how long something might be around for with this brand. They change their line up all the time and so I was curious to see this offering in the new line up. I haven’t tried many glosses by Catrice, as I used to be more of a lipstick gal. But now that I have found that glosses can be to my taste, I was curious to see what these would have to offer. At just €3.95 a pop, these are very affordable indeed.

What are these glosses like?

I already mentioned these not being a lip plumper with a tingling feeling that will make your lips look bigger. These are hydrating glosses that make your lips look fuller because they fill the lines in your lips and come in very natural, lip like shades. The doe foot applicator is simple but easy to use and one dip is all you need to coat your lips with a nice layer of a rich, creamy gloss. Let’s have a look at the shades.

So there isn’t a lot of variety in terms of shades. These are all clear to pink shades that are very neutral and very close to a natural lip color. Some of these are a bit lighter, some of these are a bit deeper, but nothing is truly exciting here in terms of shades. But that is not what I look for in a gloss. I like my glosses to be neutral and quite basic. I wear them instead of nude lipstick very often and I really like that look. Like your lips but better with some extra shine.

What do these glosses swatch like?

Here you can see the texture quite well: rich, creamy but not that sticky. For how affordable these glosses are, I feel they did a good job with the formula. And that’s exactly why I ended up liking these so much more than I had thought. These are comfortable, last reasonably well, considering it’s a gloss and it is just a great product to just slap on with any look you’re wearing. These glosses are just effortless and great for when you want a quick lip look that you can reapply without a mirror. So that’s an added bonus.

What does these look like on the lips?

As you can see in the pictures below, the shades really don’t make much of a difference once applied to the lips. I do apologize for the crusty lips, but this being the end of winter, going into spring, my lips are dry and that’s why I like a product like this. In the end these just feel super comfortable, and my favorite shade, 030 Lifting Nude, is the exact shade of my lips meaning it a perfect match.

My Final Thoughts

The Catrice Better Than Fake Lips Volume Gloss was a big success for me. The formula is rich and creamy and very comfortable on the lips. The shades are nice but nothing revolutionary. That said, these glosses are a good one to have. If you have just one of these, I think you will find yourself with a great gloss that will really see your through many different occasions.

Would I recommend the Catrice Better Than Fake Lips Volume Gloss?

Yes I certainly would! This is one of the best lip products Catrice has come out with in a while. Yes, it’s nothing groundbreaking, but it is a good, solid launch that I think can appeal to many different people. If you can find a shade that you like in here, then I think you can go for it blindly. The clear one isn’t all that great, but one of the nude ones I think can be great for nearly everyone if you just want to go for that effortless, no makeup makeup look.
