Essence Herbal Face Mist review

Can you believe it?! Essence released a skincare product they didn’t discontinue straight away for once. And it is one that I greatly enjoyed too! I went through two bottles of this face mist. What am I talking about? I am talking about the Essence Hello Good Stuff Herbal Face Mist. Truth be told, a face mist isn’t necessarily a very important step in a skincare routine, but it is still one I enjoy having. And this one was a cheap and cheerful one that I really liked using on a daily basis.

Skincare review: Essence Hello Good Stuff Herbal Face Mist

So Essence skincare is incredibly affordable. I have tried a couple of other items from the Hello Good Stuff range and while okay they aren’t revolutionary from a skincare perspective. But what can you expect? This face mist is only €2.99 and comes with just 50 mls of product. So it’s only a small bottle and so you can go through this very very quickly indeed. That’s the only real downside to this.

What does this face spray have to offer?

Like I stated in my intro, a face mist is not a necessary product at all, but I like using one. Most of them are just water with some glycerin in a bottle. That is something you can easily create yourself. I am too lazy for that, so I like buying these things as a first step in my morning skincare routine. This face spray promises to be good for calming skin with chamomile, green tea and tea tree. It has a bit of a scent but it isn’t overly fragranced which I love.

What are the ingredients like?

This is the ingredient list for the product:

AQUA (WATER), PROPYLENE GLYCOL, GLYCERIN, MELALEUCA ALTERNIFOLIA (TEA TREE) LEAF WATER, CHAMOMILLA RECUTITA (MATRICARIA) FLOWER WATER, CAMELLIA SINENSIS LEAF WATER, ENANTIA CHLORANTHA BARK EXTRACT, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, ALLANTOIN, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, SODIUM LAURYL SULFOACETATE, SODIUM OLEOYL SARCOSINATE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, SODIUM OLEATE, OLEANOLIC ACID, SODIUM SULFATE, CITRIC ACID, SODIUM BENZOATE, POTASSIUM SORBATE, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE), CI 15510 (ORANGE 4), CI 42090 (BLUE 1).

I was quite surpriced by how long the list is, but for how cheap this is, I am quite surprised by how good the ingredient list seems to be. The ingredients promised on the bottle are also at the top of the ingredient list. Now there is fragrance and there are a bunch of ingredients on the list that I don’t understand, but I think this may be doing a bit more than I had initially expected.

What does this product do?

So one reason why I like this product is because it has a fine mister. I use about 4 – 5 spritzes every time I use this and that means I go through it quickly but I love it as a base layer underneath my skincare. I like starting with a layer of moisture just to help with my skin’s hydration. I then layer my serums and moisturizers on top and I feel I get a great result every time. Is this step absolutely necessary? No but I like doing it this way.

My final thoughts

I really love the Essence Herbal Face Mist. This hydrates my skin, works well under makeup and just is a good supplementary step in my makeup routine. The ingredient list is much better than I had expected and so after using up 2 of these, I may just buy another one these as a backup. It’s cheap and cheerful and so even though there isn’t a lot of product, it really isn’t too bad to keep repurchasing it.

Would I recommend the Essence Herbal Face Mist?

Yes and no. I don’t think you need this product in your life. It’s just not a necessary product in anyone’s skincare routine. But if like me, you have dry/ dehydrated skin and you like working in thin layers to get the most out of your skincare, then this me a good affordable step to add.

Do you use a face mist?
