I don’t think I ever reviewed an Essence liploss before and since they do some good affordable options, I figured: why not? I bought this Shine Shine Shine liploss a while ago, just to try it. Sadly, Essence discontinues products all the time and this line is currently no longer around. However, all the Essence lipgloss I have tried over the years has felt similary when I used it, so I don’t think there is much of a difference between this exact lipgloss and what is going on in their current Extreme Shine lipgloss range. Let’s have a closer look.

Review: Essence Shine Shine Shine lipgloss Flirty

If you are looking for great affordable lip colors than Essence is a good brand. I don’t always love their formulas but because I have so much makeup I get to be pickier than most people. If you are on a budget, then Essence has probably one of the best lip ranges on the market from liners to lipsticks and also glosses. For years I have tried some every once in a while and the last one I purchased is this pinky shade. The Essence glosses retail for €1.99 which is a great price point and from the current line I think shades 06 Candy Shop and 03 Dusty Rose are quite similar to this one. So if you cannot find this exact shade anymore, but you were looking for something similar enough then the current range will definitely have you covered.

What does this lipgloss have to offer?

The name of the product says it all really: Shine Shine Shine! That’s what this lipgloss is supposed to do and that is exactly what it does. It makes your lips look shiny. The brand promises a wet look finish and some of the products in this line even had a plumping effect, but I personally have never tried an Essence product that does more than add a bit of color and a certain finish. Essence liplosses are very comfortable and for how affordable these are the formula is definitely good. This is non-sticky and comfortable on the lips.

What is this lipgloss like?

Essence lipgloss doesn’t come in the most exciting packaging, but it’s the product that should work right? The doe foot is simple but precise enough and many of the shades are light enough that you can apply them without using a mirror. While comfortable this doesn’t have much longevity on the lips so expect to touch this up several times a day. After a drink this will already have been mostly worn down and you won’t be able to see it anymore. If you want more of a shade to stick around I recommend filling and lining your lips with one of the Essence lip liners (their twist up ones are good!) before putting this on.

How does this product swatch?

Flirty was a shade that I picked up to use in a video. It was perhaps a bit more pink than I had hoped. I remember thinking in store this would be more of a mauve tone. Instead, it’s a bright pink. Oh well. It’s pretty though. That wet look shine certainly comes through in a full on swatch on te back of my hand and you can just see how creamy this is. That’s why it feels so comfortable on the lips: whether you wear a lip balm or this Essence lip gloss the effect will be quite similar.

My final thoughts

The Essence Shine Shine Shine liploss in Flirty is a pretty one. I think this can appeal to many people and at this price point it truly doesn’t break the bank. Even if you would have to repurchase this quite quickly after everyday use (because of all the touch ups you’ll need to do) I think this still warrants its price point. This is a good product that is affordable and just a decent allrounder that will look great on many people who love a comfortable non-sticky gloss formula at a budget friendly price point.

Would I recommend the Essence lipglosses?

No matter what rendition these come out in, I find Essence lipgloss to be good glosses. The shade selection is usually nothing too exciting and could be worked on, but from a formula stand point these are good. Since I own so much makeup though I usually end up decluttering Essence lipglosses. Not because they are bad, but because I have other better things just lying about. But that doesn’t mean I don’t rate these. These are good and if you are looking for a lipgloss on a budget, then Essence would be my go to brand of choice.
