EM Cosmetics Heaven’s Glow Magic Hour review

Today I am reviewing a product from a brand I have been meaning to try for a while. I have tried one of their liquid serum blushes, but I got a few other bits in the mean time. It’s an expensive brand to buy from. Not just because the products are priced at a high end price point, but because the brand is only stocked online and I have to get it shipped over from the USA and that can be a costly affair. So the question most certainly here is: is it worth it? And today we are asking that question about the Heaven’s Glow Radiant Veil blush in Magic Hour.

Review: EM Cosmetics Heaven’s Glow Radiant Veil blush in Magic Hour

As I already mentioned EM Cosmetics can be a bit tricky to buy from. The blush itself retails for €34 which isn’t that bad in itself. I mean in the grand scheme of things, this isn’t the most expensive blush I have ever bought. It also isn’t the cheapest. It sits somewhere on the higher end of the spectrum for sure, but what makes this truly expensive is the added custom and handling fees. Shipping is not cheap when you buy from EM Cosmetics if you’re in Europe. They do now add the additional fees at checkout which makes it much smoother sailing, but it does add to the cost.

What does this blush have to offer?

I was as intrigued by the Heaven’s Glow blushes as I was by the liquid serum blushes when I first spotted the brand. So I decided to try the shade Magic Hour. This blush boasts a soft glowing result. It is a baked powder formula but it is said to be infused with creams to give a seamless finish. It can be layered for a more intense result and is one of 7 shades available. Originally, this came in three shades. Magic Hour is one of the three original shades.

What is the shade Magic Hour like?

Magic Hour is one of the lightest shades available. This is a soft peachy pink with a stunning cool toned glow. In the pan it is one of those powders that looks like it won’t do anything. But on my fair skin this gives the prettiest barely there blush look. I know that isn’t what most people like, I am often told to put on more blush when I film videos, but for my day to day life I find too much blush very unappealing. I’d rather go for something that is easy to apply, cannot easily be overdone and still gives a healthy sheen to my cheeks. This does just that.

What does this blush swatch like?

As you can see in the swatch, this blush is a barely there shade. It is a very soft pink shade on my skin. Much of the peach you see in the pan I feel doesn’t really show up on my skin. It is a very pretty soft pink. In a full on swatch this looks quite powdery but I can assure you that this applies much better with a brush. If you have a different skin tone than mine than any of the other shades may be better for you, but this one ended up being perfect for me. While it may seem like not much here, wait till you see it on my cheeks.

What does this look like applied to the cheeks?

Here you can see what this blush looks like on. It is subtely glowy but you can build this up and then you’ll get a more intense color. I like my blush subtle as I already indicated, but I feel this is just right. You get enough color pay off, a bit of glow and a very pretty natural look. I think if you have a deeper skin tone this could function as a highlighter if the shade was something you would still be interested in. As you can see here, that slight chalkiness the swatch seemed to have, has all but disappeared once applied to the cheeks.

My final thoughts

I really like my EM Cosmetics Heaven’s Glow blush. It is very pretty on the cheeks and looks better when you see it in video/ real life than in the pictures here. Yes this is subtle, but that’s exactly why I like it. It is not obviously shimmery and yet still glowy. In short, it has all the ingredients that I like in a blush and that’s why I got another shade from this line. There is just something about a blush I can just pile on and on and on and it still looking good, even against my fair skin. This is perfect for doing just that.

Would I recommend the EM Cosmetics Heaven’s Glow blush?

As much as I like mine, I can see that this isn’t for everyone, especially at this price point. Even if I find it worth it, I can imagine that for many people this is just too little to go on to warrant this type of price point. That said, I love the subtlety and the slight glow this has and that’s why I love it. And if that is what you love too, then I think you will love this as much as I do.

Have you tried any EM Cosmetics products?
