Are you looking for a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerize? Those retail for €30. If I were to tell you there is a product out there that is possibly made in the same factory and that has a similar formula but retails for less than a third of the price point, would you be interested in hearing more about it? Then stay tuned because today’s review is for the H&M Beauty cream eyeshadow in Dauphine Truffle. Now this isn’t a shade dupe, but a formula dupe? Oh yes, that is definitely what we are dealing with here.

So this product may prove a touch difficult to find. I can find it listed on the H&M website but it is listed as currently unavailable. The full retail price for this is €8.99 with a discount price listed at €4.99. That is an absolute steal compared to the Charlotte Tilbury product and I think your best bet is to try and find this in an H&M store. That’s how I find mine. The only problem: H&M Beauty is not stocked in all stores and you will have to hunt down one that has the collection. I found out as I was looking for items for a full face of H&M Beauty, that what is sold online is different from what you can find in stores.

What does this have to offer?

So I cannot find a shade description for this anywhere, but I would categorize this as a cool toned brown or a taupy brown. And we all know how I feel about taupes. The range had many more things to offer and that was something that stood out to me. I only own one Charlotte Tilbury cream shadow because I find the shade range just not that exciting. It’s very warm toned and the only shade that seems cooler isn’t all that cool toned. This, answers my prayers when it comes to a shiny but not shimmery cream shadow that is deep enough to set up a smokey eye and layer under other things, but it is also very pretty by itself.

How does this swatch?

The H&M cream eyeshadow was something I didn’t have high hopes for. It wasn’t until I popped this into one of my custom singles projects last May that I found this was just so similar to the Charlotte Tilbury. The shade range is completely different, but the formula? Spot on. This is rich, creamy and opaque with one swipe. You have enough play time for blending it out and it stays put all day provided you put a primer on underneath. My hooded/ deepset eyes still need a double prime moment even if it’s a cream shadow that sets itself like this one.

What does this look like applied to the eyes?

My favorite way of using this? As a sheer layer underneath Colourpop’s Supershock in Frog. This was my go to look in the fall time last year and I got back to it all the time if I want a quick, easy look that I can wear in every situation. The H&M Dauphine Truffle shade can be blended up into the crease and I just pop some Frog in the center of the lid and I am good to go. I can use a smudger brush to use the H&M shade along the lower lash line and/ or to intensify the shadow along the top lash line.

My final thoughts

Why I love the H&M Beauty cream eyeshadow in Dauphine Truffle so much is because it is so easy to use. I can use it with finger, a brush and depending on the techniques I use I can make it look differently every time. Just topping a bit of sparkle on top gives you even more options and the shade is just a great one for what I like to use. It is not too deep, yet sheers out beautifully and builds up to full intensity with just a bit extra. The quality is great and now that I have this I wonder why I ever spent €30 on a cream eyeshadow that will probably expire within a year anyway.

Would I recommend the H&M Beauty cream eyeshadow?

If you can find this, then please do buy this. Is it a total must have where you have to go out of your way to track this down? No you don’t. It’s makeup, no makeup products warrants that kind of effort. That said, this is one of the best cream shadows in my makeup collection and absolutely love how this works. It has a great texture, great shade, it’s easy to use and it’s affordable. You can’t beat that.

have you ever tried anything from H&M Beauty?
