You know that feeling when you just know you’ve found a new holygrail product? That’s how I felt when I tried the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5. I bought this in Paris last spring after watching a dermatologist on Youtube recommending this. With La Roche-Posay being one of my favorite skincare brands, I was instantly intrigued. And let me tell you: this product is now all gone and I am so happy I have the SPF version of this sitting in my cupboard ready to use, because this moisturizer made me want to buy a backup straight away.
Skincare review: La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5
In terms of a moisturizer this is one of the more affordable offerings by La Roche-Posay. This retails for €10 online, but I got mine in France and there the brand is a little bit cheaper. I think I paid €8 or €9 for this back in April. You can buy this pretty much from any place that sells La Roche Posay. So find a retailer near you or online and I am sure you can buy this, often even at a deal.
What does this face cream have to offer?
According to the brand, this thick balm like product can be used not just on the face but anywhere on the body. It should calm and protect the skin and can be used both day and night. It has been tested in 14 different situations where it helped alleviate skin issues. From help healing sutures, stings and bites from insects and other irritations either from skin reaction or medical procedures. In short, I was intrigued and wanted to try more.
What are the ingredients like?
Here you can see a swatch of the product which had a surprisingly thick texture. But once I scrutinized the ingredient list I kind of knew why. Let’s have a closer look:

One thing that stands out to me immediately is that there is no added fragrance in this product. A win-win and this truly smells of absolutely nothing. The reason for the thick texture? The shea butter I am sure. Other than that there is nothing in this ingredient list that truly stands out to me in a positive or negative way. Then again, I am not a cosmetic chemist so I cannot be sure. This review is mainly based on my user experience, which I have found is just as valuable. I have had some of the worst allergic reactions to skincare that had a ‘good ingredient list’. Finding good skincare is truly a matter of trial and error unless you have been tested for something and have been advised by doctors to stay away from certain ingredients.
Would I recommend this moisturizer?
What I liked about this is the thicker texture. When you first blend this out it looks very white. Like Casper the friendly ghost. But this is a product where you’ll just have to trust the process and keep working it into the skin until it has disappeared. This left my skin feeling so good that there were days where I didn’t want to use my other moisturizer or my makeup primer. I loved this stuff as it made my skin feel hydrated and moisturized, almost like a one stop shop.
Should you buy the La Roche Posay Cicaplast B5 moisturizer?
I think this is a great moisturizer for everyday for people with very dry/ dehydrated skin like mine. If you have oily skin you may find this a bit too rich. Also a great one to try if you are sensitive to fragrance as there is nothing in here that could cause any problems on that front. I am happy to have a backup in my skincare cupboard and when I next go to Paris I will be making sure to pick up the larger 100 ML bottle for sure!
