A product I love to buy on the cheap? Setting spray! I am not a huge setting spray aficianado, but I love the step for finishing off my makeup.
I swear by some drugstore favorites, such as this one by Catrice, this one by Revolution and this one by Colourpop. Will the Milk Makeup HydroGrip setting spray meet the bar?

My main reason for trying this? Because I loved the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip primer. So I figured, why not try the setting spray? This is the first high end setting spray I am trying in years, so I am hoping it can live up to the hype.
Review: Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Set + Refresh spray
In terms of price point this does not compare to the cheaper versions I love. At €20 for this 50 ml travel size this is definitely one of the most expensive setting sprays I ever tried.
That’s why I first opted for the travel size. The full size of 100 mls is €34 and I felt that would be an expensive mistake to make if I didn’t love this.
What does this setting spray have to offer?

After the success of the Hydro Grip primer, Milk has cleverly tried to emulate their success with some other products. The eyeshadow primer seems to be the most divisive with lots of differing opinions out there. Some love it, some hate it.
The Hydro Grip setting spray, on the other hand, generally has positive reviews. Having experienced the primer myself before, I figured this setting spray would fit in a similar vein where it would hydrated my face, while makes sure my makeup lasts a bit longer. And I can report this product does just that.
How does this work?

Unlike other products, setting sprays are a bit difficult to swatch so you’ll just have to make do with a before and after image of this product on my face. There isn’t a noticeable difference. My face doesn’t look glowier or more matte after using this setting spray.
It has a very pleasant mister that allows for a very light application, but I feel I need quite a bit for this to cover my entire face. Which is why in a matter of just a few weeks this is already about to be used up.
Granted, mine was the travel size, but the full size is only twice as much product so that would mean this product would last you about 2 months.
To me that is not worth it in the end. The Colourpop Pretty Fresh that I love and I feel works equally well for me is only €12 for a full bottle. Added bonus: a 100 ml bottle lasted me a looong time. It was the setting spray that kept on giving and lasted a good few months before it needed replacing. Needless to say, I bought two backups in their Black Friday sale. So I am good for setting spray for a little while to come.
Should you buy the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip setting spray?

The Milk Makeup Hydro Grip setting spray is a great makeup product. I totally understand the hype. What I don’t understand? The price point.
I just feel this is too expensive for what you get. At the end of the day a setting spray is not the product that is going to make your makeup last. Your skin prep, primer and powder are.
So when it comes to setting spray I mainly want them to take away the powderiness of the overall look and if it adds a touch of longevity than I find that okay. But I don’t need to spend over €30 for 100 mls of product that I go through in under 2 months if I used the product on a day to day business.
For me, the Milk Makeup Hydrogrip setting spray is not one I will be repurchasing. However as far as setting sprays go, this is as good as it gets. Especially if you find setting sprays to be quite drying, this may be worth a try.
