Kaleidos Makeup Mono Blush review

One of my favorite indie brands to try? Kaleidos Makeup. Many of their releases appeal to me and I have purchased two complete collections in the past year.

One such collection? Smokey Nostalgia and it came with 5 mono blushes. Let’s review the Kaleidos Makeup Mono Blush in Dreamwalk, Sunburnt, Ecstasy, Sanguine and Joyride.

This collection featured 5 blushes. All of them are matte and they come in a range of shades that aren’t that standard. Sure there is a nude/ peach shade but the rest? A hot pink, a red, a straight up orange and a brown. The only thing that could have improved this is if they would include a purple.

Review: Kaleidos Makeup Mono Blush Smokey Nostalgia Collection

As far as indie brands go, Kaleidos Makeup is quite possibly one of the most accessible ones. Their products aren’t overly expensive. These blushes retail for €17 a pop which isn’t cheap nor expensive.

The brand is based in the US, but ship directly from their China factory. This cuts down costs and you won’t be hit with massive shipping and handling fees no matter where you are in the world.

What does the collection have to offer?

This collection comes with 5 blush shades:

  • Dreamwalk – a hot pink that rivals Dior’s Rosy Glow
  • Joyride – a nude brown
  • Sunburnt – a vibrant orange
  • Ecstasy – a pinky peach that is surprisingly cool toned
  • Sanguine – a red that looks far more intimidating in the pan than on the cheeks

In short, a well-rounded collection of interesting blush shades. There are one or two here that aren’t totally up my alley, but there are enough shades here that really appealed to me.

How do these blushes swatch?

The blushes are full on matte and I haven’t loved matte blushes in recent years. I have been more into that glowy cheek vibe. So shimmer blushes and liquid and creams have been the norm.

However, these are matte but not flat blushes. What I mean by that is that these still have some interest to them. In a full on swatch these go on intense but with a light hand and a good brush, these blush shades are stunning on the cheeks.

Wear time is excellent and I love how they layer with other shades. They also pair great with highlighter as they allow the highlighter to come through, still resulting in that glowy cheek I love so much.

What do these look like on the cheeks?

These ‘on’ pictures are in the order in which I have shown and described the blushes above. So Dreamwalk, Joyride, Sunburnt can be seen above. And Ecstasy and Sanguine can be seen below.

As you can see, these blushes swatch intensely but on the face, they really don’t show up that way. These sheer out beautifully and even the shades that have a clear warm undertone like the brown and the orange are still very wearable on my cool undertone.

My two favorite shades? Dreamwalk and Ecstasy. My least favorite shades? Sunburnt and Joyride. I am still undecided on Sanguine. It is very pretty on for that ‘sunkissed’ look, but I have other red blushes I love equally.

Should you buy the Kaleidos Mono blushes?

I think this is a great release by Kaleidos Makeup. If you were interested in these, you definitely do not need all of them. Pick a shade you like and you will be very happy.

And I hope this blog post review was helpful for you to see these swatched side by side on fair skin. And to see them applied to a cool undertone as that can affect how your blushes look of course as well.

Let me know if you are planning on picking any of these up and if you already own one, which one!

Which of these blushes appeals to you the most?
