Weleda Almond face cream

Weleda is an organic skincare brand of which I had yet to try. It’s one of those brands that I’ve seen around, but was never too interested in. Then one day I decided I wanted to try some new skincare and this brand was on sale and I decided: why not. I purchased the Almond Face Cream in the lightweight formula and gave it a whirl.

Almond Soothing Face Cream

This cream has been formulated for sensitive skin and comes in two different versions: a regular and a lightweight formula. Since my aim was to find an everyday moisturizer for my skin I went with the lightweight version as it seemed best for a good layer of moisture underneath make up. A tube of 30 ml retails for €14.99.

The packaging for the product is hygienic and easy to use. In stores, you will find it is packaged in a box that lists all the information you might need, including the list of ingredients. The tube itself is quite small. Most moisturizers come in 50 ml sizes, but this one comes in 30 mls. So you get less for roughly a similar price to my favorite moisturizers by Olaz: The Total Effects Moisturizing Cream for sensitive skin.

This product is part of the almond range and judging from the ingredients, this is not skipped. The first ingredient is water and Almond Oil is the second one. There is also alcohol in this product, but it’s the good kind. It also contains beeswax, glycerin and some other ingredients to thicken it up. But the real working ingredients is most certainly there and high up the list.

The tube has a small enough opening and it is easy to get the right amount for one use. I find that with this product a little goes a long way. You only need a pea sized amount to cover your entire face. So while you are getting less product than most moisturizers, it also takes less product to get the job done.

Consistency wise what is noticeable about this product is how thick this is. It really has an almost waxy feel to it and not as much slip as most moisturizers. Applying it to the face isn’t precisely difficult, but it does feel like this product has a bit of tug rather than a slide when applied. That tugging feeling isn’t my favorite and in fact is also makes my skin go slightly red. To me that was a surprise seeing this is a product aimed at people with sensitive skin.

What I needed was a moisturizer that gets the job done though. Does it? It most certainly does. This is a good everyday moisturizer that has a pleasant smell, a good level of moisturization and despite the tugging feeling when applied, it does not aggravate my skin or cause an allergic reaction. It is efficient in its use making the small amount of product you get way up to the cost just fine. I would definitely repurchase this if it was on sale again, but it did not beat my favorite Olaz moisturizer from its throne.

What everyday moisturizer do you use?
