If you saw my US and Canada shoplog, you will have seem that I brought back some drugstore make up to try out. In the United States, make up comes a lot cheaper than in The Netherlands and to top things off they have brands that are not available over here. So I shopped for some items to try and things that were on my make up wishlist for a while. I will list my first opinion on the products and there are swatches of everything as well. US drugstores do not allow you to swatch any products so I had to buy these based on that they looked like in the packaging. Check back tomorrow if you wish to see a look I created with some of the products featured in this post.
Lip products
Revlon Just Kissable Balm Stain in Cherish Devotion, Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie, NYX Matte Lipstick in Angel & Soft Matte Lipcream in Addis Ababa
I didn’t buy that many lip products. I really wanted to try a Revlon Lip Butter and when I found the Kissable Balm Stains I decided I wanted one too. I have tried both. The lip butter is a great thing to have. It is a lip balm but with some more color to it. The color Berry Smoothie is perfect on me. This product really gives me that ‘my lips but better look’. The Kissable Balm Stain is even better. It has a slight minty smell and tingles a bit when you first apply it. The color is amazingly pigmented, it stays on for hours and STILL moisturizes my lips. I now regret not getting more of these. I have yet to try the NYX products, but you can see the swatches below and judge for yourself:

Blusher:
Physicians Formula Happy Booster in Warm, Wet & Wild Color Icon blush in Mellow Wine, Milani Baked Blush in Berry Amore, Cover Girl Cheekers Blush in Rose Silk
I already own a lot of blush colors, but I can always use more. I love playing around with different blush colors on my cheeks, as each color can give your face a completely different look. I haven’t tried the Milani one yet, but just have a look at the swatches below. One thing I can tell you is that it is super heavy pigmented and that it looks very peach colored for a blush that is called Berry Amore. Still, it’s pretty though.
I did try the other ones. The Wet & Wild is super pigmented and needs a light touch. It is completely matte and I think this will be especially nice when the weather turns a bit drab. Both the Physician’s Formula and Cover Girl blush are pink colored blushers with a subtle shimmer in them. The Physician’s Formula one more so than the Cover Girl one. When applied lightly, the Happy Booster (aren’t the hearts the cutest?) could easily multitask as a highlighter. The Cover Girl blush gives a very pretty glow and is great for summer.

Eyeshadow
Wet & Wild Color Icon eyeshadow palette in Petal Pusher, Maybelline Color Tattoo cream shadow in Fierce & Tangy & Painted Purple, Cover Girl eyeshadow in Tapestry Taupe, L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in Midnight Blue and Perpetual Purple.
Eyeshadow was my first love and it will be my last. To me, this isn’t even that much, but of course I did buy that massive Sephora + Pantone palette, so that explains something. I have tried all these products by now, so I will be able to tell you a bit about each of them.
The Maybelline Color Tattoo cream shadows were introduced in the Netherlands right before my trip, however, the US gets different colors and they are cheaper so I picked up two that I won’t find over here. Amazing pigmentation and great staying power. Same goes for the Infallible shadows by L’Oreal. We get them over here, but I only paid 10 dollars for the pair (around 8 euros), compared to 14 euros a piece in The Netherlands. The Cover Girl eyeshadow had been on my list since my favorite youtube beauty guru dubbed it her favorite neutral shadow. Swatches are below:

A Wet N Wild eyeshadow palette was on my wishlist for the trip. When looking at the products on offer, this palette popped out straight away and since it has 8 pretty purple/ pink colors I went with this. The texture is a bit powdery. It is easy to take too much on your brush and even after tapping off the excess I managed to create fall out. Annoying, but not a major fail. It just takes some getting used to. The only downside is that pretty wine color (with crease written in it) shows up black against my oh so fair skin.

Those are some pretty good buys methinks! As I said in my introduction: tomorrow’s post features a make up look that I have created using some of these products. Stay tuned for that and have a great Sunday.
