NOTW: icy lilac

Time for another nail look. This week’s look is a cool toned look with some icy holographic sparkles. I guess you could call this a different take one the nude + glitter look. The base nail polish color is very light: a pastel lilac color. On top I’ve used a purple-ish toned holographic glitter topcoat to compliment the purple and make it sparkly and to me, icy, looking. It’s a very subtle nail look and definitely a good way to wear some sparkle when you’re not into wearing a ton of glitter on your nails.

Products used:

– Etos nail hardener in extra strong

– Essie Nice is Nice (2011 spring collection)

– Catrice Holo Que Tal? Million Styles LE holographic top coat

– INM out the door fast drying top coat

The best part about holographic topcoats? They look different in different lighting. The picture at the top was taken in daylight. The pictures in the collage above were taken in my kitchen late at night using various settings on my camera and with fluorescent lighting.

See how the glitter looks silver and blue in this one? My cuticles are a mess btw. I started using a new hand cream and cuticle cream and I’m not sure yet whether I’m liking it. Or rather my hands. Plus last week was COLD and that raged havoc on my ultra dry cuticles.

In daylight again. Now you can see the glitter also has some purple and even a hint of orange in it. Pretty cool if you ask me! You can see the effect even better in a close up: (excuse the blurriness)

And that’s it: my nail look for this week. Next will most likely feature a X-mas inspired nail look, so keep your eyes peeled for that!
