Must have nail colors for spring

Spring time means a change in color schemes. From darker hues, pastels and brights are suddenly much more apt to complement the sunnier weather. And I love spring nail polishes.  From pastel greens, mints and bright corals and everything in between. Today I’m sharing my 5 favorite spring nail polishes with you.

1. L’Oreal Color Riche Pistachio Drage

When I saw the L’Oreal Les Blancs line presented on several blogs I got very excited. Out of all the shades my eye was immediately drawn to the pale green in the collection. Pistachio ice cream is my favorite flavor and so the name and color of this polish couldn’t be more appropriate. The texture of this polish is a tad thick and gloopy and I’m not a fan of L’Oreal’s super thick brush. However, the pretty color makes up for it double time. The pale green looks great against my pale skin tone and I swear my hands look more tan.

2.) China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint

China Glaze do some great nail polishes and Re-Fresh Mint is one of my favorites of their line. Mint colors can be tricky. Some lean more green and some lean more blue. Where most mint colors pull into the green spectre, Re-Fresh Mint leans more towards a blue and that is what makes this polish unique in my opinion. It’s my only minty blue color and a shade I reach for a lot during spring. It is paler than baby blue, with a little more green in it. It reminds me of bright blue skies that in the glare of the sunlight tend to pull away from your standard sky blue. Awesome color, perfect to make your hands look a bit more tan.

3. OPI You’re such a Budapest

First of all, kudos to OPI for the name. Secondly, all I can say is that OPI has done it again. It is by far my favorite nail polish brand out there and with this latest addition to my ever-extending OPI collection from the Euro-Central collection, they have yet again reaffirmed my love for all things OPI. This blueish toned lilac is like a more purple periwinkle (one of my favorite colors!) which pulls slightly more grey when held near true-er purples. All in all a very unique color that has a hint of shimmer to it, which you don’t notice on the nail. Goes on a bit streaky and patchy on the first layer, but surprisingly pulls itself together on coat number two and becomes a gorgeous full coverage creamy textured nail polish.

4.) Essie Cute as a Button

One nail polish brand that is quickly shooting up my favorites rank is Essie. Ever since this brand became more widely available in the Netherlands I’ve been trying some polish and apart from one color I most definitely love all of the shades I have. For spring I decided to add a coral pink to my collection. Cute as a button is a tad sheer on the nail, you can still see my nail tip through the polish after 2 layers, but with this color I don’t really mind.

5.) Barry M Kingsland Road

On to my favorite budget nail polish brand: UK drugstore brand Barry M. Seriously why don’t we get this brand in Dutch drugstores? I love, love, love their nail polishes. They’re cheap, have a great color range and gorgeous and innovative finishes. Their textured nail polish are really nice and my favorite by far is Kingsland Road. This pale pink color dries to a matte sand like finish and is void of shimmer or glitter. I am a big fan of the sand style nail polishes to begin with and when I put this on I fell in love. The shade goes nicely with paler skin tones and is just super cute.
