Happy Moments #2

The past few months haven’t been the favorite ones of my life, but by now I can say that I have found my happy spot again. I am still feeling a little bit better every day. I know the bad is defitely behind me and the only way from here is up. All I’m doing now is crossing my t-s and dotting my i-s and that is a great feeling to have. I have more energy to do things I love doing and that in itself is worth a happy mention. Today I’d like to share with you 10 things that have put a smile on my face recently. Or in other words: happy moments!

  • Going on trips

I already went on a trip to Frankfurt at the end of May and I still have my summer trip coming up as well. I just love to travel: see new places, meet new people. Just the prospect of it, puts a smile on my face.

  • Seeing old friends

Ties in with no. 1. The reason why I went to Frankfurt was to meet up with a friend who I still know from my US college days. Back in ’05, I spent one semester at College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. I met some great people while there and I’m still in touch with a few. One of them recently moved to Frankfurt which is only 5 hours away. It had been 6 years since we last saw each other but once we met we just took off right where we’d left.

  • Dance performance

Two days ago, on Sunday, I had a performance with my dance class. We don’t get to do these things very often. My school only has a performance that includes everyone at the school once every 5 years. So it was quite the thing. We had been working on the routine for quite some time, so things went pretty well. It’s always nerve wrecking to perform in front of an audience, but it’s an adrenaline rush at the same time.

  • Buying albums

These past few months I’ve been buying quite some albums. From Damon Albarn to Curtis Mayfield and The Weeknd to Paulo Nutini, I love me some new music and I love to still buy physical copies. I can enjoy sitting on the couch with an actual CD in my hands, reaching liner notes and lyrics, while listening to the CD.

  • Knowing that I do want to be a teacher afterall

Ever since I started feeling not so well regarding my job, I also started doubting whether I’d still want to be teacher. I’ve been teaching for 8.5 years by now and I’ve always loved it. But I always felt that I would want to do something else after some time. However, after being stuck at home for a bit, I noticed I really missed it and I’ve come to the conclusion that not only do I enjoy teaching, it’s also something I’m pretty darn good at.

  • Learning from this past year’s journey

If anything the past 6 months have given me renewed insights into myself as well as the working of the world. In the end, I have come out stronger then I was before and that’s a great feeling to have.

  • Sunshine!

Yes, the weather seems to finally have decided to grace us with more sunshine. Not only that, but days are also nice and long with Twilight not happening until well after 11 PM now. And maybe it’s just me, but I always have so much more energy when there’s more hours of daylight in a day.

  • Reese’s Peanut Butter bars

Out of the blue, my candy store started selling these and oh my, do I love them. They are my ‘guilty pleasure’ moment of the week.

  • Reorganizing my wardrobe

A few weeks I reorganized my wardrobe. I have a massive PAX wardrobe, but when I bought it I wasn’t into dresses much. So when I did, I ran out of space quickly. I bought a clothing rail to help with the space, but that nearly started falling over due to gravity and the crookedness of the 17th century building I live in. It was time for a change. So I bought new hangers and space bags and now everything fits again and it’s nicely organized. I will do a separate blog post on it some time in the future.

  • Getting more and more emails from PR people

My last happy moment pertains the blog. The past couple of months I’ve started receiving more and more emails from PR people. Even though most of them don’t catch my interest, some do and I write about them. Not only does it provide me with new topics to write about, it also makes me feel like my blog is now a legit thing. I’ve spent almost 4 years writing posts on here without any goals or anything, and to see it grow and capture the interest of companies, is just mindboggling to me.

What are your current happy moments?
