Lush Fluff Eaze jasmine & henna hair mask

Just like about anything on my body (skin, nails, lips, feet, you name it) my hair is dry. It’s also very brittle. A nourishing shampoo and conditioner can do a lot for me, but sometimes my hair just need that bit of extra. Especially in summer, when my hair is exposed to sea and sun, it tends to dry out more quickly. And in winter, my hair rubs against rough woolen scarves and freezes on early morning starts. The remedy? A good hair mask. I’ve tried a few in the past, but the one hair treatment I keep coming back to is Lush’ Fluff Eaze Jasmine & Henna Hair Treatment. And here’s why.

Lush Jasmine and Henna Fluff-Eaze Hair Mask

This is by no means a cheap hair mask. A jar filled with 220 grams of product costs €22.35. Then again, I tried one from my hairdresser which cost as much and didn’t work as well, plus that was filled with silicones and this one isn’t. So I do think you get what you pay for. And what is that you may ask? Well, you get a bunch of nourishing oils that will leave your hair feeling soft and smooth. The quicker that silky smooth feeling is gone, the better I know that it is high time for a hair cut to get rid of dead ends. But this hair mask is great for in-between upkeep.

This hair mask is marketed towards dry and brittle hair. My jar says: does your hair make you feel like a poodle? Use this hair mask for frizz free shiny hair. And here’s what Lush says on their website:

Supremely smoothing jasmine-scented hair moisturizer

If your hair is a little fluffy, frizzy, dry, or out-of-control, Jasmine and Henna Fluff Eaze is made for you. Our specialty hair treatment, it’s packed with copious amounts of moisturizing and nutrient-filled oils including organic jojoba, almond, Brazil nut and extra virgin coconut oil. It works brilliantly on curly hair as well, as all of the oils help define the curls and add loads of shine. And if that doesn’t stop passerby’s from stopping in their tracks, the jasmine fragrance will stick with you for days after using it, so you’ll have irresistibly soft, shiny and sexy smelling locks.

  • Forget about heavy silicones: Let nature calm, detangle, smooth and control frizzy unmanageable hair.
  • Smooth on: Filled with deeply conditioning organic oils and an intoxicating jasmine fragrance.
  • Shine-tastic: We also blend in a red henna infusion for more shine and gloss than you thought possible.

Lush promises to moisturize and nourish your hair with plenty of oils and should also work on curly hair. It’s jasmine scent should linger in your hair while making no use of heavy silicones. Red henna should give you shine and glossy hair. Let’s put that to the test!

The product in the jar doesn’t look very appealing. The texture is gloopy, almost slimy. It’s a funny feeling, but not something I cannot get used to. The scent is one I love, but I’ve heard of people who quite frankly hate it. Before purchasing I suggest you smell this first. I like florally, musky smells, but if that’s not your thing then opt out of this product. Because like the product claims: the scent will linger around for the next couple of days after using this. It doesn’t feel different from silicone based hair masks I’ve used, but I do find I need less to get similar results. Where other hair masks require you to use half the jar in one go, I can get away with using 1/5 – 1/4 of a jar at a time. Sometimes I’ll only use this in my ends, because that’s where I need it most. How much you use, of course depends on the amount, length and thickness of your hair so this will differ per person. But I can get 4 – 5 uses out of one jar so that’s not too bad, considering the price.

The mask is super easy to use: apply generously to dry hair, leave on for 20 to 30 minutes, and then shampoo out. This is much better compared to other hair masks, as you cannot use them on dry but wet and clean hair. Meaning you have to wash your hair, apply the hair mask and then wash your hair again. Not alone wasteful, but also a hassle to put yourself through. This, I just whack on, let it soak in and then I just hop in the shower and go about my business in there. Super quick and easy! I use the mask as needed, maybe once every 2-3 weeks, no more, as I also use a leave in spray and hair oil after every wash, so I don’t need it every week. I sometimes also let it soak in for longer than 20 – 30 minutes. I find that the longer you let this sink in, the better the results.

On to the ingredients. The red henna is at the top of the ingredient list so that’s promising. The next ingredients are water, alcohol, SLS and perfume. Oops. Apart from the water none of those ingredients actually do anything for your hair. The alcohol is a good type of alcohol though so it shouldn’t be too drying and if you’re avoiding SLS and fragrance in hair products this also isn’t for you. I, myself, have no problem with any of these, but it is something to note for people who do. But right after the perfume, the next 11 ingredients are different types of oils and the promised jasmine. The latter part of the ingredient list exists of ingredients that naturally occur in the oils and at the very end you’ll find some parabens to preserve the product. So all in all, the ingredient list is what Lush promises to give you: nourishing essential oils that will infuse your hair with moisture and make your hair shiny and renewed. Apart from SLS and fragrance there are no harmful ingredients in this product, but they are quite high on the list.

My personal experience with this hair mask is that I definitely notice a difference whenever I use this. The scent (which I like) lingers for a few days and after using this my hair always looks much more fabulous than I think it will beforehand. It feels smooth, looks shiny and is not as stubbornly frizzy as it is on most days. In fact, I dare claim that after using this product my hair looks like I’ve just gotten it done at the hairdressers. No lie. Unfortunately, the difference is too small to be captured by a camera, hence no before or after pictures. Where most hair masks I’ve used weigh my hair down and make it look lackluster and limp, this mask seems to put some life back into it.

The fact that I can pop this on before taking a shower kicks it up my must have list as it makes for an easy to use product that is non-fussy application wise and is easily spread and soaked up by my hair. What I like to do is apply this to the lower half to 2/3 of my hair. I use a quite generous amount, but to ensure the product is spread evenly throughout my hair, I use a wide tooth comb to comb through my hair and distribute the product through my hair. I tend to leave it in a bit longer than necessarily as I believe that makes for even better results. In the shower I just shampoo and condition my hair as usual and also after my shower I treat my hair as usual.

The result? Shiny and nourished looking hair that looks better, healthier and is easier to manage. If you’re looking for a hair product that will help you maintain the frizz, is easy to use and doesn’t weigh down your hair, but leaves it looking shiny and new, then this is a product for you.

  1. I use this mask too and it really helps a lot! I also make my own mask sometimes by combining coconut oil, argan oil, almond oil and avocado oil. It’s a cheaper option to use sometimes so this Lush product will have a longer lifespan 😉

  2. […] I am not much of a haircare person and from all beauty products I tend to change them up the most. I am not too loyal to any haircare brands in particular and when it comes to my hair anything that does not require heat is fair game. The first ever haircare product that I tried that I felt really made a difference for my hair is this hair mask by Lush. I reviewed it last year. […]
