New year, new music. As we speak I am still making my way through piles and piles of end of year lists, so I’m sure that shortly I will have a post for you with some new gems that have hit the airwaves. For today, we’re going to stick some older songs. One of them so out of date, that it is not available online…
Keep The Car Running – The Arcade Fire
Let’s start with the things that are around shall we? I’ve been loving Arcade Fire for years, and so I decided to list the first song of theirs I ever listened to on repeat. Keep the Car Running is one of those songs I just can’t stop listening to because every time I hear it, I hear something new.
Keep Your Head Up – Ben Howard
One artist whose album I listened to on repeat in recent years is Ben Howard. And I was so happy to finally catch him life while it was my birthday at Rock Werchter a few years ago. This song was one of his major hits, so I’m pretty sure you’ll know it, but if you don’t give it a listen. It’s a great singer-songwriter song.
Kill – 30 Seconds to Mars, The
I confess: I had an emo fase. Don’t we all? For a while I was heavily into rock bands and I spent my early 20s listening to every hip and happening emo band of the day. 30 Seconds to Mars was no exception and I even saw them live back in ’06. Ah, the good old days when a stressful days was simply solved by playing this and screaming along at the top of my lungs…
Knights Of Cydonia – Muse
Muse has been a constant for me since I was a teen. I go through phases when it comes to actually listening to them. Their first two albums were all I’d listen to for quite some time when I first became a student. I kind of missed out on Black Holes and Revelations and I didn’t know this song until I got myself a Wii and Guitar Hero 3. Yep, that’s how I know this song and I love it. It rekindled my love for Muse and by now I have seen them live twice and always keep a few of their songs at hand so I can get my fix any time I need to.
Kamikaze Shirt – Fisher Z
Finally, the song that I cannot find anywhere. I compiled this music ABC what feels like aeons ago and I did not check beforehand whether the songs I had listed were available online. In short, I cannot find this anywhere, but a childhood staple like this one can simply not not be mentioned in a post such as this. Fisher Z was/ is my dad’s favorite band and I grew up listening to their music. Kamikaze Shirt is not one of the big hits but one of the songs my dad played most. I hear this, I think of him. 🙂
