Yay! Songs of the Week is back, and this installment features a few songs that are brand new to me. Yes, you heard that right I got my hands on some new music again. And where these songs may not be hot off the press, I am thoroughly enjoying them. I got them through my best friend. I usually supply her with music, but since I was stuck in a bit of a music rut I asked her if I could browse her music list when I visited her a few weeks ago. And lo and behold, there were some gems hiding in her music collection.
Cut One – Show Me Love
Epic pop… Who knew that existed? But I’ve got my hands on a few of these songs now and I love the mix of the dramatic music with the poppy vibes this gives off.
Koven – Final Call
Best. Vocals. Ever. You have to wait for them to build up and hit. But when they though they go straight through you. And then there’s that surprise break beat at the end. One of the best songs I’ve heard in a long time…
Moko – Freeze
Talking about great vocals… This song is giving the one above a run for its money too. Bonus points for the 90s dance pop vibe on the chorus.
Seinabo Sey – Hard Time
A type of you hate it or you love it type song. I personally love the slow build up and repetitive loop to it. It’s so restricted and constrained, but about halfway through this song unfolds itself and shows its true nature.
Theophilus London – Wine & Chocolates (andhim Remix)
Nicely paces remix that has quite possibly one of the catchiest choruses out there. If you follow these posts you know I like my happy songs, and this song instantly puts a smile on my face.
Troye Sivan – Happy Little Pill
Electropop song with a minimal vibe. I don’t know what I exactly like about this, but it’s just one of those songs that I that stuck with my ever since I first heard it.
