3x Chanel products

High end make up is something I only buy on rare occasions: as a treat to myself. I prefer buying budget, drugstore and mid range make up, as I feel their products are as good or even better. Truth be told, shelling out the big bucks for a Chanel, Dior or YSL make up product is the ultimate treat and today I am showing three such treats that I purchased in the past 1.5 years. They are all by Chanel and they are all gorgeous.

The products I will be reviewing for you today are a cream eyeshadow, a lipgloss and a cream blush. Each product is perfect for fall and since each product on its own won’t qualify for a single review, I decided to review them altogether now. Let’s start with the cream blush.

Chanel Le Blush Crème de Chanel 67 Chamade

Cream blush in the Chanel universe or course cannot just be called a cream blush. Oh no, it is called: Le Blush Crème de Chanel. I bought a limited edition color from one of their 2014 collections called Chamade. A Chanel blush was high on my wishlist for a long time, but I found the powder version to be a bit run of the mill and not too interesting. And then I saw this!

Chamade is a cream to powder blush and it looks stunning in the pan. I love how the pinkish red hue contrasts with the start black of the classic Chanel packaging. It simply makes this color look extra vibrant. The packaging is worth mentioning to begin with because the Chanel compacts are sleek and chic all at the same time.

Chamade swatch – blended out

The color is a vibrant poppy raspberry red. It swatches beautifully and gives a healthy flush to the cheeks. I find this stays on nicely as it slightly stains your cheeks and it doesn’t feel too waxy, which is my biggest pet peeve about cream blushes. The texture is quite creamy at first, but as you blend this in it settles into a much drier texture. As you can see in the blended swatch of this, you need to work fast as the product stains your skin instantly.

On the cheeks this blush makes for a healthy looking flush that I love wearing in the winter months. It gives your cheeks that ‘fresh out of winter air’ look. I don’t think this color is still available, but based on my experience with this cream blush I think that it is a safe bet when you are looking to splurge on a cream blush.

Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eye shadow in 97 New Moon

The second products I would like to review for you is a cream shadow in the shade New Moon. I bought this after Lisa Eldridge used it in this video. I thought it looked stunning and went to the store the minute it launched. It was part of Chanel’s 2014 summer line, but I have seen this round at stores that haven’t gone through their stock yet, so you might still be able to find it.

This was my first Illusion D’Ombre cream shadow and I absolutely love it. It is a very shimmery (perfect for the holiday season!) rosy brown shade that looks good on it’s own, dabbed over shadow for a hint of sparkle and as a base. It has a similar cream to powder texture as the blush and once this is on this stays put all day.

On the eye this shade is a bit more sheer, but that is why it is perfect for adding a bit of an accent. By itself it gives a very natural look, but with a bit of liner to darken up the lash line this looks stunning. If you are curious about the Chanel Illusion D’Ombres than I can recommend this one, or just find a color you like best that is still available: you will not be disappointed.

Chanel Lèvre Scintillantes Brillant Extrême Glossimer 175 Savage Grace

Last but not least I also own a lipgloss by Chanel. I am very familiar with their lipsticks. I own two Rouge Coco shades and two Rouge Allures (one Velvet and regular), but their lipglosses I had never tried. As with the blush this lipgloss isn’t just called a lipgloss at Chanel. I bought this when I had a discount voucher and didn’t really know what to buy. My eye was drawn to a vibrant dark berry lipgloss with pinky/ purple glitter and fell in love.

Lipsticks are: Illamasqua Shard, Topshop Wicked, Rimmel 04

Savage Grace is a vibrant cranberry shade that can be worn on its own (bonus points!) or over other berry lipsticks. To show you the effect I swatched not just the lipgloss, but also over three different matte berry colored lipsticks I already owned. I also added pictures in the shade and in sunlight to show you the magnificent sparkly effect this has.

Like I said this lipgloss is very opaque and one of the most comfortable to wear. It is non sticky (I finally know what that means thanks to this product) and stays put really well considering this is a lipgloss. It survives a drink, whereas a meal seems to be a bridge too far. I currently own just 6 lipglosses, and this is one of them, because it is just too gorgeous. The color is also permanent to their line so this will be a lot easier to get your hands on.

All products on my face. Since the lipgloss is very out there, I feel that the eye and cheek product go very well with it. The resulting look is very natural and healthy looking with a hint of shimmer on the eyes and a nice berry lip. In short: great for fall with products that were well worth their price point to me. My occasional splurges were definitely worth it.

What Chanel products do you own?
