Nuxe Rêve de Miel lip balm

Winter has finally reached The Netherlands! Well, not exactly where I live, but the northern part got some snow and ice over the past week. And with that colder weather, what better essential to write about than the best lip balm I have found so far. If you are like me and your lips start to crack and flake the minute the weather changes around autumn time, then the Nuxe Rêve de Miel lip balm will be your new best friend.

Nuxe Rêve de Miel lip balm

Nuxe is a French skincare brand that I know of through some Youtube beauty gurus. The product they rave about the most? Their Rêve de Miel lip balm. So when I was in Paris last year I decided to try it. A jar contains 15 grams of product and retails for around €10 – €12.50. It depends on where you get it from how much you pay for it.

The claims on this product are that it should nourish, repair, soothe and protect your lips. It is supposedly tested in super cold conditions and boasts a good amount of natural ingredients and is paraben free. The ingredients also show that. There’s beeswax, shea butter, oils and actual honey in this lip balm. But also some silicones, but predominantly this looks extremely good.

The lip balm comes in several different forms. There is at least a stick shape and this one in the pot. I heard better things about the pot, so I bought that. The packaging is simple and clean. However, it might break easily. The jar is made from glass and one of the reasons why I didn’t review this lip balm earlier is because the first one I bought had a broken lid. However, as long as you’re careful, there should be no problem with this packaging wise.

Once you open up the jar, you will be met not with a honey smell, but more of a citrus one. It smells like a slightly more tart version of an orange and seeing this product contains grapefruit oil might explain the scent. For a lip balm that is called ‘dream of honey’ this may be surprising, however the honey in this product is certainly noticeable in the texture. After a while, the lip balm will start to form crystals just like a jar of honey does. So it is key to try and use it up, as after a while the crystals may cause your product to no longer be usable.

Now the real reason why this is such a cult product, is because of the texture of this product and what that means for you lips. The texture is quite thick, even thicker than vaseline, yet not too sticky. That must be the wax/ honey combo. Despite it’s thick texture this applies very smoothly. It lasts a good while as well: I can still feel a thin residue on my lips in the morning.

What made me truly love this product is how it keeps my lips from becoming dry and chapped in the fall/ winter season. I had tried anything under the sun and this is the first lip balm that I feel truly nourishes my lips and cures chapped lips overnight. I usually apply a good amount right before bed time and I wake up with smooth, nourished lips. The minute I ran out of my first pot (which lasted me nearly a year despite using this pretty much every day), I started noticing my lips drying again and becoming more chapped.

The only downside to this product is its availability: there are only strange online pharmacies that stock this in The Netherlands. They seem shady and also charge you almost half the price of this product in shipping. That is why I was happy to find this on Feelunique. They ship internationally and offer free shipping to The Netherlands when you spend a certain amount.

Yes, this truly is a holy grail product and the best lip balm out there that doesn’t break the bank. It nourishes, smooths and cures your lips overnight and lasts a good while. So not only is this a great product, but it also gives you a great bang for your buck.

  1. Brr! Hello from California! Netherlands sounds cold and cold brings on the chapped lips. I’ve not heard of this lip balm from Nuxe but I’m interested to see if I can find it at the drugstore. Great review, can’t wait to see what you come up with next. xox Trace

    • This winter has been very mild so far, but California must be a bit warmer than here. It can be a lot colder, with ice and snow everywhere, but it doesn’t seem like this year is anything like it. But I like using a heavy duty lip balm year round.
