Maybelline Fit Me vs Nars Radiant Creamy concealer

There are two concealers that many in the beauty community like to compare to one another: The Maybelline Fit Me concealer and the NARS Radiant Creamy concealer. The formulas are supposed to be almost identical and with the Maybelline version only costing only a fraction of the price, it is well worth looking a bit more closely as to how these compare. So in today’s battle of the concealers, I present to you: Maybelline Fit Me vs Nars Radiant Creamy concealer.

Because wouldn’t it be grant, if the Maybelline concealer which costs $5.49 tops, could be as good as the NARS one? The latter retails for a whooping $29.00, which is well worth the dupe. Both products are currently unavailable in The Netherlands. We used to have the Fit Me concealer but it was discontinued. If you are looking to buy these, you will have to go abroad. I bought mine in the US.

Maybelline Fit Me concealer is available from most drugstores. Not just in the US, but also in Germany and the UK. They might have a different shade range or names for the same shade in different countries. I’m just going with the one I have: 15 Fair. I bought this second to lightest shade as it had a more pinky undertone and appeared to be lighter than number 10.

NARS Radiant Creamy concealers is one of those cult products that many people rave about. Is this worth the hype? At $29.00 it better be good. I bought mine in Custard which is a yellow toned concealer aimed at light to medium skin. I bought this after a makeover at Sephora, at the end of summer, when I was at my darkest. This is definitely a summer shade for me and not one that can be used to highlight.

The packaging of these concealers is very similar: a standard lipgloss type tube with a black cap and a doe foot applicator. Even the doe foot applicator is incredibly alike. The NARS applicator appears a fraction fluffier and seems to hold a touch more product. But that could also be a difference in the formula.

When it comes to a swatch, the Maybelline Fit Me concealer is definitely creamy, be it a touch see through on the stripe. When blending it out it seems to have some good coverage and oxidized slightly when drying down. You can see how it appears to be a little bit darker around the edges. The shade is pretty much spot on, especially against the light skin on the inside of my arm.

The swatch of the NARS Radiant Creamy concealer may appear a tad shocking. How can that be a match? As you will see below, this definitely matches the skin on my face, so no worries. This concealer looks to be higher in coverage: there is no sheer patch to be seen. Coverage wise it shows a tremendous good amount of coverage and it doesn’t oxidize around the edges.

Comparing them side by side has me notice the following: Maybelline Fit Me is more watery and emollient than NARS Radiant Creamy. Where you can see how the one on the left has a more runny look to it, the one on the right shows a much thicker texture. The result of this is that the Maybelline concealer is easier to blend and spreads out a lot more than the NARS one. The NARS concealer however, has far superior coverage. A little definitely goes a long way and when blended in properly it covers nearly anything.

As you can see in a side by side comparison on the face, Maybelline Fit Me has much more of a highlighted effect on me. This has nothing to do with the formula however and is solely the result of the shade I’d selected. I’m sure that if I were to own an even lighter shade in the NARS Radiant Creamy formula that I could create a similar effect. Vanilla might be a good shade to try.

The main difference between the two is coverage. Where the Maybelline concealer has nice coverage and definitely gets the job done, you can see in the final picture how a little bit of blue/ dark circle is peeping through. Nothing too noticeable from a distance, but it’s definitely there. NARS Radiant Creamy covers it up completely. There is no sign of darkness under the eye at all and also the hint of redness under the eye is completely sorted.

Lasting power is very similar for both products. These do not crease if applied sparingly and set with powder on top. These aren’t the type of concealers which I would slap on like you see people do on Youtube. Just a few dots and you’re pretty much set for the under eye area. I barely use concealer on the rest of my face, but I sometimes dot it around a bit more. Both products are also capable of taking care of overall redness around the nose and chin area.

So which one is the better one? To be honest, I think both of these concealers are good in their own right. In comparison, I’d have to say that NARS Radiant Creamy concealer wins it for me. Simply because it covers dark circles the best and that’s the main reason why I use concealer. However, with a slightly thicker formula, this may not be for everyone. If you’re looking for a product that has a similar effect, but is a tad easier to blend, than the Maybelline Fit Me concealer might be a better option.

  1. […] Maybelline Fit Me Concealer – This has been a longstanding favorite. The only reason why I didn’t use one up completely was because it was discontinued in The Netherlands and it is difficult to get your hands on. Now that I have a backup I have gone back to it and remember how much I love it. It has a medium coverage and doesn’t crease. My kind of concealer. […]

  2. […] Maybelline Fit Me concealer – A product I had to desperately use up was this concealer. I opened it and remembered how long I had this for. Since there was only a little left, I used it consistently for a few weeks until it was gone completely. I’m glad to have a backup of this. […]

  3. […] Maybelline Fit Me concealer – One of my favorite drugstore concealers? Maybelline Fit Me. It is a great concealer that does exactly what I need it to do. It comes in a shade that is light enough, is easy to apply and see I don’t hate on all Maybelline products. I could have easily added the Fit Me Matte & Poreless foundation too, but I love this concealer just a little bit more. […]
