I love wearing dresses and skirts from time to time. While my style is quite casual, I like inserting a dose of feminine style to my outfits as well. The best way to blend casual and girly is by adding a skirt and my preferred style of skirt has shifted over time. Where I used to be all about skater skirts, but as my style evolves, I have switched over to a-line skirts. Here’s how I wear them.

The first type of a-line skirt that I think is a must have, is a denim skirt. Denim skirts are versatile and when it comes in an a-line style, they are also a little more dressed up than the average denim skirt. My problem with denim skirts is that they can look a little too country for my taste. I find that a dark denim, a-line skirt paired with a striped, tighter top and some boots actually elevates it to a complete look that is fun and casual.

Another staple to own is a faux leather skirt. This Forever21 number is my favorite and when I wore it last the zipper broke. Luckily I got it fixed by a tailor and now we’re good to go again. I like pairing faux leather skirts with prints and a red lip. For an edgy vibe, I paired it with a leopard print shirt this time. To keep the cool look, I decided to go with a pair of buckled boots with a western vibe. By keeping the look monochrome, allows you to play more with makeup and accessories.

Now that we’ve had a look at the staples, there are a few more that I love to wear. This grey skirt can be worn two ways. This side of the skirt looks quite basic and is great for wearing with some color. I like this pink cardigan year round and it’s a great item to add some texture to the overall look. Paired with black, the grey and pink stand out a little bit more. The skirt can also be worn back to front: it has a zip running from top to bottom that could also double as the front of the skirt.

I also love wearing this faux suede a-line skirt by H&M. I love how versatile it is. It can be worn with black, but I also like going for more a cowgirl look and wear it with a denim shirt. To keep that contrast up top, I prefer to wear it with shoes in a similar color, especially in the spring time. But this also works well with creams, beiges and olives for a more earthy toned look.

The final skirt that I would like to show you has a little bit more of a fit and flare look to it, but it still works as an a-line skirts. What sold me on this is the color. I love a good teal and this petrol shade is perfect for fall/ winter. I love pairing it with blacks to keep the outfit nice and dark. The striped shirt adds a little bit more interest and a pair of cut out boots rounds off the outfit nicely.
How do you like to wear a-line skirts?

Nice to see that you wear so many pretty skirts!
Do you wear it all with a kind of maillot panty in autumn and winter?
Xoxo
Of course! Black opaque tights from Primark are my favorite.
