Random outfits #9

I have been loving putting outfits together lately. Where I went with quick and easy, yet boring outfits for a few months after my move, I now feel more like planning my outfits a bit more. It’s still winter here so I’m all about the chunky knits and opaque tights. However, I want it to be spring too, so I am trying to incorporate some spring colors to try and force spring along a bit.  random outfits fashion lookbook

Since it’s still cold, my outfits are a bit limited. This week saw subzero temperatures, but with a pair of fleece lined tights or my corduroy pants I survived just fine. My key has been layering, so I’ve been loving cardigans. I’ve also been wearing my pairs of Dr. Marten’s a lot: they are simply the best to keep your feet warm.

The Red Sweater

My first outfit I wanted to share features this chunky red knit. It also featured in my most recent lookbook, but I thought I’d style it differently. I wore it with my black straight leg MOTO jeans by Topshop. These come up a little bit higher and have a frayed hem. They are also really thick and thus a lot warmer than most of my pants. To play around with the chunky textures of this outfit, I decided to throw on a pair of vinyl shoes to add some shine.

The Metallic Jacket

This jacket was a complete impulse buy, but I’m so happy I got it. I love a bit of silver/ grey with red, so I wore a red high neck t-shirt that coordinated perfectly with these pointy boots by River Island. I got lots of compliments on the shoes! The jeans are a repeat from the outfit above, just to show you how one item can look completely different if you pair it with different items.

The Chenille Cardigan

Colourwise, this outfit would be great for spring. Fabric wise it is definitely winter appropriate. Chenille fabrics are not only super soft, they are super warm too. I love pairing pink with greys and blacks. So I wore the cardigan with one of my favorite dresses that is a dark marled grey. The dress has a very smooth fabric so that is a nice texture clash with the cardigan. I kept the bottom half of the outfit very simple with a pair of black boots by Asos.

The Floral Blouse

For a day out shopping with my mom, I wanted to wear an outfit that was comfortable but would be easy to take on and off for trying on clothes. I decided to go for a spring like outfit with a cropped black and white floral blouse from Urban Outfitters and a pink cardigan from Only that is more lightweight than the one above. To not make the outfit too dark, I wore a grey marled skirt (that has a zipper from top to bottom in the back so no problems getting in and out of it), and my comfiest pair of Asos Chelsea boots.

The Dr. Marten’s

Another outfit, another cardigan it seems. This is very much a winter outfit. I love wearing this cardigan by Urban Outfitters with my Cherry 1460 Dr. Marten’s. This is a staple combo for me. I usually wear this with black, but again, with spring around the corner, I wanted to wear lighter colors. So I went with a pair of Topshop grey Jamie jeans and a black and white top from Primark. This was so comfortable to wear and nice and warm.

The Navy Skirt

If you saw my last Random Outfits post, you may have already seen this H&M cardigan. I have been wearing this loads. Here I teamed it with a striped roll neck top by Only and a scalloped edge button down skirt by Urban Outfitters. The skirt is a fun item as it is quite cute, but it is made of a corduroy fabric, which means it looks a bit edgier and it keeps you nice and warm. The photo is a bit dark, but on my feet are a pair of burgundy brogues by Bronx.

What have you been wearing?
