Make Up Revolution Conceal & Define concealer

One of the hypes in the makeup world at this moment? The Make Up Revolution Conceal & Define concealer. After the drama surrounding Tarte and many people boycotting the brand as a consequence, they all needed a replacement for the much loved Shape Tape. And then they discovered this! Whether it was newly released, whether it is supposed to be a much cheaper dupe of Tarte Shape Tape: it was at the right place at the right time. Is it any good? make up revolution conceal & define full coverage concealer contour review swatch c3 c4

Make Up Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Conceal and Contour concealer C3 & C4

At a mere €4.95 it costs a fraction of the price of Tarte Shape Tape, so that is something this concealer already has going for it. It is available online mostly. I bought mine from the TAMbeauty website. TAMbeauty is the mother brand behind Make Up Revolution, I Heart Makeup and Freedom Makeup. Their website ships internationally and you can also buy this in stores in the US and the UK.

The Packaging

Just looking at this, you can see why people have taken to this as a replacement for the Tarte Shape Tape: it has the same massive doe foot applicator as that one. Sadly, I haven’t tried that one enough to really be able to compare the two. What I can tell you is that there is not that much product in this concealer. You only get 3.4 ml of product. Tarte Shape Tape contains 10 mls per tube.

The Applicator

What is one of the biggest selling points of this product is the doe foot applicator. It is absolutely massive, but that does mean it makes it quick and easy to apply the product. I like how it is quite soft and feels nice on the skin. There is a little whole in the tip which contains some extra product. This means you never have to double dip as the applicator has enough product on it to cover everything you need to cover.

The Product

To test out this concealer, I bought two shades as I wasn’t sure which one to get. In total there are 18 shades and they come in groups of 3: neutral, warm and cool undertoned. I bought C3 Fair Cool and C4 Light Neutral. I thought I would be able to make one of these work now and have one be a good summer shade. Additionally C1 Fair Neutral, the lightest shade was out of stock, so I took a chance. C3 indeed seems to be a good color match.

The Swatch

This product is supposed to be a full coverage concealer. Full coverage usually means dry and cakey as well, but that is not the case here. It is a thick, but still very emollient concealer. It therefore blends easily and looks great on the skin. When it dries down it does feel a little bit tacky, so I do like to set this with some powder, but then it looks great. When I first tried this I put it on bare skin without any primer or setting powder and it lasted hours without creasing.

The Application

Here I have applied C3: my favorite shade for right now. The only downside to this concealer is that it can look a little bit dry and cakey. That is why it probably stays put so well, but if you have a very dry undereye, this will not be for you. For me, my under eye tends to have some fine lines but I don’t find they are accentuated during the day and when I use an eye cream underneath and press the concealer in with my fingers helps this tremendously.

The Conclusion

I have really been liking the Make Up Revolution Conceal & Define concealer. I especially like the lasting power this has and how it looks at the end of the workday. A downside is how little product you get as well as that it can look dry and cakey. Of course this is a very affordable concealer and you only need a little bit to make it go a long way. In the end, I think it is a concealer well worth a shot.

  1. Oh dear, I didn’t realize there was Tarte drama. I don’t know how any company thinks they can get away with not being inclusive. Also, upon googling for the boycott I came across that poorly chosen meme. I can almost see how that slipped past them as I had a very offensively named Pinterest housekeeping board until one day it just clicked in my brain that it was a racial slur & not an appropriate phrase to describe how clean my house would be if I used those tips. Yikes!

    Anyway, great review & look!

    • Thanks! Yeah, I have to catch myself sometimes as well. But especially since I teach, I am constantly aware of what I say or do. The last they you need is your students thinking you are calling them names or w/e.

  2. […] Make Up Revolution Conceal & Define concealer – The other concealer I’ve been using is this concealer by Make Up Revolution. It was THE hype of the beautywebs when everyone decided to boycot Tarte after their shady response to the Shape Tape foundation release. And I have to say: I love this concealer. So much so, that I already used this up and had to pull it from my bin of empties. […]
