Book wishlist

2018 is seeing some exciting book released. There are quite a few books coming out in series that I enjoy, some even being series finales. In the mean time I have also found some other books that have captured my interest and that is why I think it would be fun to share with you some of the books that I hope to purchase before the year is over. I plan on doing a massive 2018 book haul where I save up all the titles that I have purchased since my last book haul in January. I think it will be interesting to see what I get in a year’s time, so maybe some of these titles will pop up again later in the year.  book wishlist

Victoria Aveyard – War Storm

War Storm is the fourth and final book in the Red Queen series. It will hopefully resolve some of the issues still present in the plot and I am just hoping it will be a blowout finale. The third book was a bit lackluster, which sometimes can be the case if a book is merely used for setting the scene of the main action in the next book, and I am hoping that is the case here. This book came out this month.

Oscar de Muriel – The Loch of the Dead

Another 4th book in a series, this time we are talking about the Frey and McGray series though. I was recommended the series by a friend and pretty much read all three books already out back to back. I cannot wait to see what their next adventure brings. This book will be out at the end of the month.

Sarah J Maas – Kingdom of Ash

The 6th and final book in the Throne of Glass series. Reading this series has made me realize that I actually like fantasy as a genre. I thought I didn’t but this made me see otherwise. I haven’t read the spin off story that falls in between book 5 and this one yet, but I am hoping to read that before this is released. This should be out later this fall, so I still have plenty of time.

Cassandra Clare – Queen of Air and Darkness

Another final book people! Cassandra Clare will be wrapping up the Dark Artifices series and while I didn’t like the series all that much, I am still curious to see what will happen. After I read this though, I know I will be done with the Shadowhunter world. The plots are a little to contrived for my liking, but I just want to know where these characters will end up.

Laini Taylor – Muse of Nightmares

This book is the second book in a duology, the first book being Strange The Dreamer. I already own that one, but I think it is best to wait with reading that until this one is out. That way I can just read both books back to back.

Ben Aaronovitch – Lies Sleeping

Lies Sleeping is the 6th book in the Peter Grant series, which is a series I keep on raving about but not many people seem to be reading it. At least, not on booktube or in the blogging world. I love this series though and when I found out there was a new book coming out before the year is out, I got very excited. So much so that when I found a novella being book 5.5 while in London, I had to snatch it up, just to go back to that world.

Sarah J Maas – A Court of Frost and Starlight

ACOTAR is a series that I have the first 3 books for sitting on my shelf, but that I have yet to read. Perhaps I should read those first and then go on to the spin offs, which is what this is. However, this seems to be more of a novella type book and I think I might enjoy it. Not entirely sure what it is about, since it is short, it is good to have something on my shelves that I can breeze through quite easily

Sabaa Tahir – A Reaper at the Gates

Sabaa Tahir’s An Ember in the Ashes Series will see its third and final book released later this year, or maybe this is already out. I have the first two books and I have had them for a while, but with a third and final book out, I am so much more enticed to read the series. I just prefer to read a series back to back, so when all the books are there and I own all of them will hopefully see me pulling through these quite quickly.

Stuart Turton – The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle

A book that is not part of a series but that I am hearing great things about is this book. Apparently the main character wakes up in 7 different bodies to try and prevent the murder of the lady in the title. Certainly sounds like an interesting premise and something I might enjoy.

Laura Ruby – The Shadow Cypher

When I was browsing my local bookstore the other day, I found this book and it is a first book in a series. It is about New York, a mysterious cypher that is built into the architecture of the city and people who are trying to keep people from destroying the one thing that could help unravel the puzzle. Sounds intriguing enough, but I haven’t heard much hype about it. A bit of a wildcard.

Peter V Brett – The Painted Man

Another bookstore find, but which I didn’t buy for now. I have plenty of books I have yet to read. Again, this is a first book in a fantasy series that has been around for some time. This has to do with demons coming to kill humans in the night and that is why people hide behind magical wards. I believe one boy gets behind the wards, but miraculously survives and that serves at a catalyst where the humans try to battle the demons again. Sounds like something I might enjoy.

Lauren Owen – The Quick

I know nothing about this book apart from the fact that it is set in nineteenth century London. You give me London in the Victorian era and I’m game! I love books with that setting and when it involves mysterious disappearances, even better!

Stephen Fry – Mythos

Last there is a book that has been out for a while, but that I am waiting for it coming out in a more manageable paperback size is Mythos. Stephen Fry took it upon himself to retell the Greek myths. I love Fry’s writing and I love Greek mythology, so I think this will be good.
