Summer dresses are far more versatile than you might think. While they are skimpy and airy during a heatwave, they can easily be transferred into more transitional weather too. The weather here is currently going crazy, with some Indian summer like days scattered among cooler, rainy days. I thought it would therefore be fun to show you some ways in which I would wear a white summer dress and style it up for different temperatures: from the height of summer to the cooler fall days.
Styling a summer dress

The dress we will be styling up today is a white dress I bought some years ago from H&M. It was cheap and cheerful and I would like to s show you how you can wear this dress in different ways. By adding a layer on top and changing up the shoe, there is a lot you can do. For this first outfit above, I have kept it simple and just added my leopard print espadrilles from Sacha. This is the kind of outfit I would wear if it is super hot.

For slightly cooler days or on a cool summer night, the best way to dress up a simple summer dress is by throwing a jeans blouse on top. I would still just go with a pair of sandals if the weather is very mild and I think these colors work well together. The denim blue looks nice against the creamy white of the dress and those sandals are a great neutral that go with everything.

Shoes | Dr. Marten’s
Now if the weather cools down a lot like it has been doing here over the past few days. This is the perfect outfit for the cooler weather as you can just throw on a pair of tights and you will be nice and snug. Who said you cannot keep on wearing your summer dresses in the fall time?

For some more color, I think red and white make for a good combination. So that is what I went for here. I threw on a red and black flannel shirt that toughens up the sweet white dress quite easily. By adding a pair of red, snake print patterned boots, you add on not one but two 2018 fall fashion trends and you have a comfy outfit that is perfect for the fall time.
Blazer | HEMA
Shoes | Sacha
For more dressed up outfit that could work in an office setting, adding on a blazer and a strappy heel could be great option. That way you can use that flirty summer dress that you wore to the beach with a pair of flipflops as part of your workwear wardrobe. This outfit would work perfectly for drinks or brunch too. Any occasion where you need to be a bit more dressed up really.
How do you try to ensure your wardrobe works for multiple seasons?
