When it comes to affordable eyeshadow palettes, I think one brand really takes the cake. That would be Make Up Revolution and all its different sub brands. Be it I Heart Revolution, be it Make Up Revolution: all their palettes give you decent quality for a good price point. So I decided to try some and one of those I wanted to try was the Flawless 4.
Makeup Revolution Flawless 4 Eyeshadow Palette
This is the third Flawless palette I have tried. I tried both the original Flawless and the Flawless Matte 2. Both didn’t impress me much. Not because of the quality, but because the color stories didn’t really work for me, I ended up decluttering both. At €9.99 a palette for 32 colors that seems like a good deal. So how does the Flawless 4 measure up?
The Packaging

Makeup Revolution’s packaging isn’t the fanciest, but it is definitely some of the most functional. You get 32 shades in this palette but it isn’t overly large. It has a good sized mirror and it makes for a great travel palette. Not only because you get a lot of shades, but also because the palette is small enough to pack, the packaging practical enough and the mirror can be easily used to do your makeup.
The Palette

As I mentioned you get 32 shades inside this palette. There is an equal split of 16 mattes and 16 shimmers. The Flawless 4 has a rosy/ berry undertone with plenty of warm tones. It reminded me a lot of a more toned down version of ABH’s Modern Renaissance. In terms of color story this is definitely my favorite Flawless palette. I like the mix of colors and it is the first palette where I feel there aren’t too many repeat shades. That was my problem with the previous palettes: too many shades translated similar on my lids which make it difficult to get many distinct looks.
The Color Story

That being said, this color story still isn’t super exciting. While there are a few berries in the palette, most of it is still warm toned neutrals. Then again, as far as berry palettes go this is one of the most wearable ones you can get. There is a good range of neutrals in here and a few peaches, champagnes and and some matte browns to round of the palette and create some great everyday looks that will be great for school or work situations.
The Swatches

As you can see there are a couple of good berries and peaches in here that add some interest to the palette. The swatches are looking good. The pigmentation of these shadows is on point. That is never an issue with Make Up Revolution eyeshadow and the blendability is on point too. With these shadows I would recommend using a primer as I find they do have a tendency to fade throughout the day. So if you want your makeup look to last, you do have to put in a bit of extra effort.
The Makeup Looks

Look 1: Warm tones

For the first look I focused on the warm tones in the palette. The matte dark brown call Burn It works great for deepening up the crease. Pairing it with some of the other orange tones and particularly the shimmers Dense and Pastel are what makes this look tick. This is a very wearable look that will work in many occasions.

Look 2: The Berries

For the second look I wanted to work in some berries. Not Today is a stunning shimmer, but where it looks berry in the pan and in the swatch it pulls more purple once applied to the lid. That is a bit of a theme with these Flawless palettes: the shades end up looking differently once applied to the lid. This means you are never quite sure what look you’ll end up with, which makes it difficult to pair shades together.

Look 3: More warm tones

For the third and final look I pulled in some of the peaches and that too made for a very pretty be it slightly unpredictable look. Since some of the shades can pull differently, I don’t like how my lower lashline came out in this one. Because the shades are a touch too warm toned for me, it makes me look a bit ill.
The Conclusion
In the basis the Makeup Revolution Flawless 4 palette is a good eyeshadow palette. If these shades are your cup of tea and you like getting a bang for your buck, then this palette will deliver on that promise. However, if like me, you want a palette that is true from pan to application and that doesn’t look too similar between different looks, then this may not be for you. For me personally, this doesn’t really fit the bill but I definitely enjoyed the looks I was able to pull out of it.
