Support Black Owned Brands, Authors & Artists

Today’s video is the one in which I break my silence. I hardly ever voice my opinions on important matters online as from my experience nothing ever comes from it apart from a lot of stress and other nastiness. That and the fact that I am reluctant to share as I often don’t deem myself an expert enough to talk about these kinds of topics. But given everything that is going on I just couldn’t stay silent anymore. So this video is all about how to support black owned makeup brands, black authors and black artists, because if our aim is advocacy than the start is to support black owned business and by listening to their voices through their words, art and music.

  1. I completely understand how it’s so intimidating to talk about this kind of topic, especially as none of us can truly be experts, particularly as white people. However, racism is a major issue that needs all of society to stand up for justice so thank you for deciding to speak about it!

Thanks for your positive comment. I felt very reluctant to post this as I wasn’t sure how it would be received coming from someone like me.

Great video! I love Juvia’s Place, as I keep mentioning… they have the best eye shadow currently on the market, I think. I didn’t know you like Motown. Have you ever listened to Jackie Wilson? He is fantastic and his stuff is considered a precursor to Motown.

Jackie Wilson? Reet Petite is the first song I remember loving when I was a kid! And The Sweetest Feeling is one of my favorite all time songs. 🙂

Awesome! “Reet Petite” is great. My favorites are “Lonely Teardrops” and I also love “Higher and Higher”. Today would have been his 86th Birthday, unfortunately he passed away in 1984. His son Bobby Brooks Wilson carries on his work, he’s also really talented.
