Essence Soft Precise Lip Pencil
Essence is quite well known for doing good lip pencils. I have tried some in the past and liked them okay. So when I saw them release some new nude shades. I thought I could try them out. In terms of formula these are okay and at just €0.99 each these are an absolute steal. However, the shades are very off on me and these also kind of hurt my lips when I apply them (I have this with all lip pencils as it takes me too long to cover my entire lip). I never wear lip liners under lipsticks either, so for me these were a bit of a longshot that didn’t pan out unfortunately.

How doe these lip pencils swatch?

What disappointed me most about these pencils is that the shade of the pencil and the shade that you get on your lips do not correspond. Many of them were too light, others far too orange and again others were just far too pink. The lipsticks that you can see below have similar names as these lip liners do but I find the shades to not be a match. Not even close! So I don’t really see the point in these lip liners to be quite fair, no matter how affordable they are.

Essence Hydrating Nude lipstick & Cool Collagen Plumpink lipstick
The lipsticks were a bit more successful but also here: lovely textures, but the shades aren’t great and both these lines have scents and a couple of other aspects going against them. The Hydrating Nude smell so strongly of plastic cookie dough that I find them too sickling and they are also the least long wearing. They do retail for just €2.59 though. At €2.89 the Cool Collagen Plumping lipsticks are just a little bit more expensive but these too have a weird scent, not the greatest lasting power and they have a cooling sensation on the lips that I find a bit gimmicky to say the least.

How do these lipsticks swatch?

The Hydrating Nude lipsticks are the three shades to the left. The Cool Collagen lipsticks are the 5 shades to the right.
