Catrice Glow Lover highlighter review

In this review I will be taking a closer look at the Catrice Glow Lover Oil-Infused highlighter. This is a new release in Catrice’s Spring/ Summer 2022 collection. I love Catrice cheek products, but this style in the larger pan I hadn’t tried much yet. They also do an oil-infused blush which I bought last winter to try out and I really like it, but I haven’t had a chance to put it in a shop my stash yet and review it. Maybe next month. This review is for the highlighter in the same line. There is only one shade out so far and my first impression was pretty good, so let’s see how this fared.

Review: Catrice Glow Lover Oil-Infused Highlighter 010 Glowing Peony

Catrice has been doing many products in this style. There have been bronzers, other highlighters and blushes that have come in similar style packaging but the oil-infused formula is one that is new to me. At €4.95 this isn’t a horribly expensive product either so if it is good, it’s a bargain. You get 8 grams of product which means that even if you use this every single day, you will get years of use out of this as highlighter isn’t exactly a product that you get through easily.

What does this product have to offer?

What I have to say right off the bat is that this is a subtle highlighter. If you are looking for that beaming highlighter that you can see from outerspace: then this isn’t it. This is a subtle more everyday glow that is pretty but soft and very wearable if you have more mature skin or if you live your life in spaces where wearing lots of makeup just isn’t something that is done i.e. work/ school. You may also be able to see in the pan, that this highlighter is quite light as well. Let’s hope it isn’t too icy.

What does this product do?

So yes, this is subtle. And yes, it is light but as far as highlighters go I really enjoy this formula. It is a powder of course, but it feels smooth and almost creamy to the touch. It is a finely milled powder to and it creates a bit of kickup when you go in with your brush but not to the point where you have powder flying everywhere. The shine this gives is intense enough for my liking: great for an everyday look and it isn’t stark and icy either. I would call this a very light champagne. For many people this may be too light though and create a grey cast. On my fair skin, this sits beautifully.

How does this highlighter swatch?

Can you just see what I mean here with the shade? Yes this is a light highlighter, but it isn’t a straight up icy white either. You can see flecks of gold and hints of pink also fused into this shade which is why I think this is a great highlighter. There is still enough shine here and the soft formula means this is easy to blend, easy to apply and it lasts all day on my cheeks. For how affordable this is, this is definitely one of the more unique highlighter shades in my collection. Often, affordable highlighters don’t have much interest to them and for instance a very strong base shade, but this looks like it could be much more expensive than it actually is.

How does this apply to the face?

So these pictures aren’t the best way of showing you the effect of this highlighter. I am not going to lie. You can see some light area on my cheeks, but my camera seriously dislikes taking pictures of highlighters once they have been applied. If you want to see the full effect, I recommend you watch my video where I try out the new Catrice products for the first time. I remembered the formula in these powders to never be the best from Catrice, but when I applied this I instantly new this would be a winner.

My final thoughts

I have to say I am impressed with this new highlighter from Catrice. It is glowy, soft, natural and not too stark of a contrast with my skin. This looks very pretty on and is never too much. In this full face shot, I was wearing a foundation that didn’t work (full review can be found here), so I am sure that messed with how this product looks in these shots as well. However, I recently selected this for a shop my stash and have been loving it ever since. This is one I certainly want to go back to more often.

Would I recommend the Catrice Glow Lover Oil-Infused highlighter?

Yes! This is a good one. I truly hope Catrice will add some more shades in their fall/ winter 2022 relaunch. Because why oh why does Catrice only release the one shade? I mean, if this works on my fair skin, then who else is this going to work for? Anyone with a medium skin tone or up will probably not love this as it will be too light and light highlighters can sit weirdly on your skin. So while I may love this, depending on your complexion this may or may not work for you.
