Kiko Eyeshadow Primer review

My love for affordable eyeshadow primers is well known if you have been following me. My all time favorite? The Milani eyeshadow primer. I have used it for years and it beats things like UD Primer Potion for me. So does the Kiko Milano Neutral Eye Base hold up to the very high bar? Let’s find out.

This Kiko eyeshadow primer is one of those hidden Kiko products. They of course do a very extensive line of makeup so there is always more to explore, but this is a product I have never heard anyone talking about. And guess what?! It’s a great product!

Review: Kiko Milano Neutral Eye Base eyeshadow primer

The first reason why I love this: the price point. At €7.99 this is cheaper than the Milani primer. Yes in the US that is about the same price point, but for me the Milani is around €12 depending on where I buy it and whether I can get it on sale. So for me this is a much better bang for my buck as I live in a town with a Kiko store, while the Milani is only available online.

What does this eye primer have to offer?

The Kiko Milano eye primer is a great eye primer. It has a thicker consistency with a neutralizing undertone to it. The shade doesn’t do much in terms of actually blocking out your lid, but it’s enough to neutralize any redness or light veining you might have.

This is best applied using fingers for the most even application. A light layer will allow your eyeshadow to last longer without creasing while intensifying the eyeshadow underneath. The texture is creamy rather than sticky and I always set my eye primer with an eyeshadow to allow my shadows to still blend.

What does this eye primer do?

This eye primer does exactly what it needs to do. I tried the Kaleidos one before this and that was a disaster as it irritated my eyes, but this doesn’t do that at all. It is smooth, has a bit of a silicone grip to it and it makes sure my eyeshadow doesn’t budge.

I have worn this all day on humid, rainy days and my eye makeup of course wasn’t pristine but even after more than 12 hours of wear time, my eye makeup is still on and crease free. So it is safe to say that this was a successful trial and I think this may now be my favorite eye primer.

Should you buy the Kiko Milano eyeshadow primer?

I think this eyeshadow primer does exactly what I need it to do. It works well as a base for my eyeshadow as it allows my eyeshadow to wear all day and remain crease free. And that is really all I need.

What I prefer to do is apply this primer first, do the rest of my makeup and when I get to my eye makeup I use my MAC Paint Pot to block out my lids completely and set that with eyeshadow. So far that combo as worked here as well.

So why is this now my new favorite? It is as good as the Milani eyeshadow primer. It is easier to use as it has a slightly thicker consistency. It is more easily available to me. It is cheaper to buy. So yes, that is all I need to dub this my new favorite eyeshadow primer.
