For a while I was looking for a great fresh, green easy to wear scent that wasn’t too floral. During my search I came across this fragrance by Maison Margiela’s Replica line. Matcha Meditation fit the bill perfectly and I wore it loads during the Indian summer we were having in September and October.
The Replica fragrances used to come only in 100 ml bottles, which to me was always a bit too big. The smaller size was a travel size which was a bit smaller. But when I spotted they did this in a 30 ml bottle I was super happy. Such a great way to try it out and if I love it I can always size up.
Fragrance review: Maison Margiela Replica Matcha Meditation
A 100 ml bottle of the Maison Margiela Replica line retails for around €130 now. This smaller size is half the price which can make it a better deal if you are a touch unsure. And with this I wasn’t sure. It was so different from everything else I had that I went with a smaller size first.
What is this scent line?
As far as perfume goes, the Maison Margiela line has some great ones in it. Matcha Meditation is a green, fresh scent that is very wearable.
The top notes are green tea, bergamot and mandarin orange. Middle notes are jasmin, mate, orange blossom and matcha tea. Base notes are white chocolate, moss and cedar.
For me it starts a bit sharp at first but it quickly rounds out and you get the freshness coming through. I get more of the green tea and matcha than the florals and citrus this also has. I get a hint of creaminess so to me this smells like a matcha latte tastes and I love me some matcha lattes.
Should you buy Replica Matcha Meditation?
For me this was a perfect buy but I can see why this wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea. White florals can be quite sharp and I have tried jasmin fragrances in the past that really developed smelling horribly on my body chemistry. However this works really well and it smells very well-rounded. Like a more grown up version of some of the white floral fragrance I wore in my 20s.
