Current favorite songs

Ever since I started doing the 30 Day Song Challenge I haven’t really been posting anything on my current favorite songs or what I’m listening to right now. That is why I thought it would be time to give you 10 songs that I’m loving right now.

Mind you, these songs are completely random and I’m posting them as is. Here they are in no particular order:

1.) I Blame Coco – No Smile

In this song you can really really hear that she’s Sting’s daughter. I already wrote a post about her and her music back in January. The acoustic version is also pretty rad.

2.) Britney Spears ft. Nicki Minaj & Ke$ha – Till The World Ends (Remix)

What’s to say about this? I love Brit Brit’s music and I think this remix beats the original hands down. I love the rap by Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha is great on this too (she wrote the song). It’s a tad faster than the original and therefore makes for better dancing.

3.) Blackbird Blackbird – Avalance (Star Slinger Remix)

Another remix, but the original is really cool too (a bit dreamier if that’s even possible). I’m totally digging these dreamy indie electro pop songs lately. And make sure to scroll down the list, as I’m also digging a song by Star Slinger right now.

4.) Peter Broderick – Pulling the Rain

Amazing instrumental piano song by ubertalented Peter Broderick. This song is on his album How They Are, which I reviewed here. Fits the whole dreamy theme that I have going on lately. It’s mesmerizing and haunting. This really gives me goosebumps.

5.) The Kills – U.R.A. Fever

The Kills just recently released their album Blood Pressures, but this one is from their earlier album Midnight Bloom. I bought the album in London in May and this song immediately stood out. I love the thumping, droning beat and overall grungy feel of the song. I got hooked on this song after watching Welcome to the Rileys. In this movie Kristin Stewart (Twilight’s Bella) plays an underage stripper/ prostitute and she dances to this song at the beginning of the movie. It does have a bit of a stripper vibe to it, come to think of it.

6.) Lady Gaga – Marry the Night

Opening track from Gaga’s second album Born This Way. Been loving it since the first time I heard it. It’s got an 80s vibe to it, yet still sounds up to date. One of the better songs on the album.

7.) The Low Anthem – Ghost Woman blues

Another opening track. This time from the album Smart Flesh. A slow, cumbersome song with just a hint of sadness and hope, all at the same time. This has quickly become a ‘relax and chill’ favorite.

8.) Star Slinger – Mornin

OMG! That’s all I can say about this song. I’ve had this on repeat for weeks now. I love this song. It just makes me want to bop my head and it puts a smile on my face. I wish all mornings could make me feel like this.

9.) Johnny Flynn – Barnacled Warship

If you’ve been following this blog, then you’ll know that I love me some Johnny Flynn. My current favorite by him is this song from his second album Been Listening.

10.) The War on Drugs – Comin’ Through

Another lovely, dreamy song. This a bit more rocky though, especially this band’s other songs are more rock oriented, but a very very good listen nonetheless. This song is smooth, dreamy, a bit surfy and perfect for that summer feel on dreary days (and we’ve had plenty of those as of late). By the way, I just found out that Kurt Vile is in this band and I’ve heard lots of great things about his solo record that came out this year.

Q: What is your current favorite song or songs?

  1. I’ve been listening to a lot of Two Door Cinema Club as well as Skrillex. Favorite songs would probably be Something Good Can Work (Two Door Cinema Club) and Rock n Roll (Skrillex).

  2. Last night, I had a relive my teenage music night with my friend. We need another to get more tracks but we’re making a list so we can blast them out sometime soon. But yeah, a lot of late 90’s stuff – mostly upbeat.

I get a bit annoyed with remixes that tell me more than once that it’s a remix. -_-

    • ROFL I love your last comment. Oooh and 90s music is the best upbeat/ pick me up music out there! I love me some 90s music. Anything in particular you’ve been listening to?
