Monthly favorites (May 2014)

Last day of the month = monthly favorites time! Time to have a look again at what I’ve been loving in the past few weeks. There are a few beauty favorites, some fashion, some lifestyle and I’ve even fallen in love with a food item again. So let’s get cracking!

1.) Regular workouts

source: weheartit.com

May was the month in which I started working out more regularly again. I started my regular work out routing up again in April, but that was just dance class and Bodybalance, which I had already been doing on and off for a few months. But as of this month I’ve decided to up the anti and add a spinning class. In June I hope to add a personalized fitness workout which includes weightlifting and then, if all goes well, I hope to add another cardio workout before the end of summer so I’ve got my workout schedule back from before my life was turned upside down.

2.) Nighttime skincare routing

I’ve also changed my nighttime skincare routine and LOVE it. I’m now using the The Body Shop Camomile cleansing all in combination with the waterproof eye make up remover from that same line and the L’Oreal Micellair water. I simply rub the oil all over my face and use a damp washcloth to remove it from my face. Any excess make up not yet removed I take off using the other two cleansers. The washcloth is from HEMA and is from their Ultrasoft line. Regular washcloths are too abrasive on my skin, but I find that these have the right amount of texture (they’re thick and fluffy) without scratching my face. I now enjoy washing my face at night. I know! Scary!

3.) V-neck t-shirts

If you saw my recent shoplog post, you already saw these t-shirts from Forever21 but oh my, I love them. The material is so soft and I’ve really been loving the V-neck cut. It shows just a little bit of cleavage and they go with everything.

4.) Sea salt spray

Another thing I’ve been loving all of this month is the Toni & Guy Sea Salt Texturising Spray. It’s the first sea salt spray I’ve tried and I really like it. It give my hair that extra bit of texture and makes my naturally wavy hair even messier and more beachy looking.

5.) Reese’s peanut butter bar

I said in my intro, I would include a food item, but I don’t think this really is food. Rather a guilty pleasure. I discovered these peanut bars at CVS in the USA in 2012 and I loved them so much. And now my local candy store, which is almost around the corner from my house, sells these. If you know Reese’s peanut butter cups, but think they are too peanut buttery, and you’d like more chocolate, then these are for you.

6.) La Roche Posay Hydraphase day cream

I have found a new favorite face cream. I had already bought a back up of the La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra before purchasing this, but my pharmacy just started carrying this and it made me very curious as this is especially formulated for dehydrated skin, which is what I have. The first time I tried it I already loved it and I can tell it’s really doing something great for my skin. It may be a bit rich for me in the upcoming months, but for winter, when my skin tends to be drier, this will be my holy grail.

7.) Palm tree print

Another throw back to my shoplog (there are a few in this post): palm tree print just screams summer and I’ve been so happy to finally find two items that actually have the palm tree print I like. Now all I need is a dress!

8.) True Detective

My favorite TV series that I’ve watched is True Detective. This was so good! It’s only 8 episodes, and the storyline gets a little iffy at the end, but dang the acting in this is awesome. You do have to like slightly awkward characters and general craziness to enjoy this, but if you are into character studies then I can assure you that you will like this TV series.

9.) Nude lipstick

JLo’s nude, Rimmel Kate 08, Catrice The Nuder the Better, L’Oreal Nude Vibrato

Earlier this month Kruidvat had a 1+1 for free discount on all make up and I picked up a few things. A few of the items I got were these lipsticks: they are all different nude shades and I’ve really been liking it. All of these shades are very flattering on and I’ve found that in a nude lip, I like a bit of shine and a hint of pink to prevent from getting that dead look.

10.) Boyfriend jeans

Another shoplog repeat, but I just can’t get over how much I love these H&M boyfriend jeans. They are from their LOGG line and I got them 2 weeks or so ago. These pants are so comfortable! I’ve been living in them ever since I got them. So how could I not include them?

What have you been into this month?
