You know I love a good dress, but if my entire wardrobe would burn down, then there would just be a few that I would sorely miss. I decided to wade through my pile of dresses and handpick my 10 absolute favorites. 10 dresses without which I feel my wardrobe would be incomplete.
10 essential dresses: without these my wardrobe just isn’t complete
A dress favorite has to meet a few criteria: it has to have a nice fit, it has to be comfy and it should suit my body type. Clothes just aren’t any good if they don’t suit you. With my selection, I’ve tried to include different occasions, different weather and different shades. I have tried to link to older blog posts where I wear these dresses as much as I can.
Vila Eggplant wrap dress (outfit)
H&M Mint green floral print tulip dress (outfit)
A bit more occasional wear like, these dresses are definitely the ones I save for those days where I try to look a little more chic. Even though they look like nothing on the hanger, these look great on. Both are made of a silky type of material that is a bit shiny which adds to their slightly more dressed up appeal.
Forever 21 Daisy dress (outfit)
H&M Striped dress
These two dresses are some very stretchy skater dresses. They make for a perfect casual look and are great for summery weather. They are comfy as you can just slip these on, no zipping up required!, and they can be worn year round. Why I don’t have an outfit up with the striped dress is beyond me, because this is one of my most worn dresses hands down.
H&M Red Circle skirt dress (outfit)
H&M Navy floral skater dress (outfit)
You know I love a good skater dress and these two are some of my favorites. The red dress is more of a Christmas number for me, because it has long sleeves. But it’s red and I have a weakness for red dresses. Floral dresses are another must have for me. I especially enjoy wearing this dress during the fall.
Topshop Baroque print dress (outfit)
Zara White & black polka dot print dress (outfit)
Fun prints are also important to have in a dress collection. I love the print on the Topshop dress! Together with the color scheme, I think this dress is an absolute stunner and something different to own. The polka dot print dress was a bit of a spur of the moment purchase, but I’m glad I did. It has a super low back and some fun straps in the back which give this dress a fun, summer vibe.
New Look Black velvet skater dress (outfit)
Topshop Tartan print A-line dress (outfit)
Where it seems that most people like to wear dresses during summer, I love wearing dresses year round. Two of my favorite fall/ winter dresses are these two. The black crushed velvet makes this dress super warm. With tights and perhaps a cardigan on top, you won’t have to afraid to get cold. The Tartan print dress is an absolute favorite and I’ve shown it many times on here. It has an A-line cut and is great to create a more grungy vibe.
Let me know in a comment below what dresses you cannot live without!

The eggplant wrap dress looks perfect! I could see myself wearing that in so many different ways. I can’t live without a nice t-shirt dress. :]

T-shirt dresses are fun too but I find don’t suit me very well.

I really want to get more dresses, I recently got a 3/4 sleeve white with back stripes dress that just goes so well with everything. That, plus my small collection of retro/vintage tea dresses are certainly my wardrobe stables! Love these dresses the blue patterned one is absolutely GORGEOUS. Sarah x
I love tea dresses too! They are so flattering. And I swear by dresses.
