New in: Colourpop

Since summer Colourpop now offers shipping to Europe, which means that us from across the pond can finally get our hands on this affordable make up brand. I hadn’t gotten round to placing an order yet, but when they offered free shipping as well as a discount on all of their liquid lipsticks during the Black Friday sale, I finally placed an order. Almost 4 weeks later, my package finally arrived. Here’s what I got!

My Colourpop order

The first thing you should know is that yes, it in fact took over 3 weeks to arrive. Some people get it quicker though, so I’m not sure what made my package take so long, but I could see it bouncing around different locations in the US as well as The Netherlands via the tracker. This blog post will not be a full review. Instead I will give you my first impressions based on the swatches.

Colourpop Super Shock Cheek Hippo

Colourpop Super Shock Cheek Hippo

$8

Hippo is a Colourpop highlight that has received a lot of buzz. I have heard so many people rave about this that I knew I wanted to try at least one highlighter. Since the cheek products weren’t high on my priority list, I only got one, just to try it out. The texture of this feels very strange. Bouncy and soft, more like a cream than a powder and I am curious to see what this will look like on my cheeks. For now, it doesn’t seem too glittery or glowy though, so I’m not sure yet whether I will like this.

Colourpop Lippie Stix matte Tootsie
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip Tulle & Avenue

Lippie Stix $5 & Ultra Matte Lip $6

What my heart truly desired from Colourpop were their lipsticks! I have heard such great things about both their liquid lipsticks and lippie stix, which is their regular lipstick formula. I decided to buy some more liquid lipsticks as they had a discount on those. I got a neutral, a mauve/ brown/ dusty rose and a deep red. Just to try a bit of variety with these. The matte formula by Colourpop is supposed to be very matte and dry down very quickly. And it is and does.

The Lippie Stix feels very creamy when swatched, but both Tulle and Avenue dried down matte quickly and completely and even with an oil based remover wouldn’t budge. I still have a stain of Avenue on my underarm, even after taking a shower! The matte lip creams are very liquidy though, which makes me wonder how easily they’ll apply. I had one drip all over my nice white chair for instance and Avenue bled into some of the lines of my arm outside the swatch.

Colourpop Super Shock eyeshadow
Partridge, So Quiche, Bae, Dance Party

$5

Another item that had truly captured my interest were their Super Shock eyeshadows. Again, the texture of these promised to be a special one and since they don’t do palettes, only singles, I opted for quite unique shades. These are ones I definitely do not have in my collection yet!

And special this texture is. It is somewhere in between a powder and a cream. I have a Dior Fusion Mono in Millennium and I would compare the texture of these Colourpop shadows to that. Like I said, I didn’t go for very standard or neutral shades. I already own so many eyeshadows and I wanted to go for something more unique. Unique they are most certainly and nothing like what they look like in the pan. I can’t wait to play around with these.

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip Femme, TooLips, Hutch

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip Femme, TooLips, Hutch

$6

The last part of my order consisted of three of their Ultra Satin liquid lipsticks. After looking at reviews and swatches online, it was this formula that appealed to me the most and that had a much more interesting color scheme too. Like eyeshadow, I also have quite a few lipstick shades, so I wanted to go for something unusual again. Femme is a taupe lavender shade of which I have no clue whether it will look good on me. TooLips is more of a reddish brown and Hutch is an intense red berry. These seem a lot more like a mousse and not as runny as the Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks.

There you have it: my Colourpop bits. I can’t wait to start testing these out in the next couple of weeks/ months to come. It will be a while until I can write full reviews on these products as especially during winter time it is more difficult for me to take pictures for blog posts. If you could let me know in a comment below which items you’d like to see a review on first, that will help me to get things started.

What Colourpop items are you curious for?

  1. Mooie order! Jammer dat je er zo lang op moest wachten. Ik ben wel benieuwd naar alle lip producten 🙂

  2. I am so grateful that I live right next to California so my package gets to my house two days after it ships! I really want to try that hippo highlight it is so pretty. You should try their blush in the shade Prenup it’s like a pale pink/lilac color it’s gorgeous! I wear it all the time.

    • Thanks for the recommendation but seeing shipping costs being outrageous, not to mention the insane custom fee I ended up having to pay I will not place a new order any time soon I think.

  3. Ultra satins are way better than ultra mattes for me ’cause they are less drying. Anyway, have you tried beeper? It really looks awful to me. 😔
