Random outfits #6

Winter is nearing the end of its reign and spring is almost officially here. That means it’s time for a last round of winter time outfits. For these last weeks of winter I’ve really been feeling a more monochromatic look with the occasional pop of color or print. I’m not sure why, but this is what I usually go for when I want to tease the idea of spring, but am not yet 100% confident in bringing out all of my spring time goodies.

That Red Blazer

Red blazer | Vintage
Grey shirt | H&M
Jeans | Topshop
Patent brogues | Dr Marten’s

I can only wear this blazer in the winter months. It is simply too warm and works better as an outerwear piece during other seasons. I found it in London at a vintage clothing store called Blitz some years ago. I love everything about it: the boxy fit, the longer length. It truly is a statement piece that makes any outfit pop. That’s why I kept the rest very simple and basic.

A Pop of Blue

Black sweater | H&M
Striped skirt | H&M
Blue boots | Asos

I finally got around to wearing these velvet blue boots. Since they are all fabric I would not dare wearing these on a rainy day as that would simply ruin them instantly. So it was a while before I found that perfect moment. I got lots of compliments and stares when I wore these. They are definitely a conversation starter. Again, because I wanted the shoes to pop, I kept my outfit plain and simple and went with a monochrome palette.

A Green Dress

Green dress | Monki
Cardigan | Hema
Patent brogues | Dr. Marten’s

This dress is one of my favorites. Even though it is quite short, I like how floaty and girly this is. It has a nice pussybow detail and a polka dot pattern to spice things up a little bit. As it is still winter, I opted for an all black ensemble. This makes the dress pop even more and makes for a very winter appropriate outfit.

The Embroidered Boots

Polka dot blouse | H&M
Black cardigan | H&M
Jeans | Topshop
Boots | New Look

Another black & pattern with a touch of something extra outfit. Can you tell I’ve been into these? This time, I opted for a pattern on my top part as I was afraid there would be too much of a clash with the floral embroidery on the shoes otherwise. These shoes again were a conversation starter: plenty of students wanted to know where I got these. The rest of the outfit was just super comfortable as it featured my favorite pair of black jeans.

The Floral Dress

Floral dress | Asos
Black cardigan | Urban Outfitters
Shoes | Clarks

I’ve been wearing more heels lately and I’ve been loving it. It just elevates any outfit. Here I’ve paired a pair of quite sensible heels with a dress that I’ve had and loved for years. The blown out floral pattern against the black background gives this dress a very 90s grunge feel. That’s why this is a dress that I always pair with black items. A longer cardigan to keep warm and some black boots to toughen up the look.

The Spring Sweater

Green sweater | H&M
Jeans | Topshop
Shoes | Nike

Another simple outfit, but this time definitely more sprint like! It’s the pale green color of the sweater that does it. This sweater adds a soft pop of color and I liked it against the dark blue of these jeans. It was surprisingly comfortable, despite the fact that I had to bust out my strapless bra for this. I love how this outfit is super slouchy, baggy and casual, yet because of the shape of the sweater never gets plain or boring. This will be an outfit I’ll wear more often this spring.

  1. […] Cardigan number one is an Urban Outfitters one. And you will see a few more in here from that store. Because I love me an Urban Outfitters cardigan. Not only are they always super warm and comfy, they are also great quality. This one I bought in London a few years ago and it is one of my go to cardigans. Since it is black it pairs with everything! I am wearing it in this blog post. […]
