Shop My Stash | August 2019

shop my stash august 2019

It is time for shopping my stash again! I usually do this in video format now, but since every video going live this month is eyeshadow palette related, I decided to go old school this month. So that is why you are getting it in a blog post. I hope you don’t mind! Here’s what I used last month and what I will be swapping out for use in the month of August. I have added links to full reviews if I have those up.

Primer & Fixing Spray

In July I ran out of both my Catrice HD Active primer and my Makeup Revolution Green Tea fixing spray. Lucky me, I still had these Essence products lying about and I decided to give them a whirl. I used them both for a solid 2 – 3 weeks and was rather disappointed in both. You can find a full review of the spray here, the primer review will be up on Friday.

Base Products

For foundation I wanted something very lightweight in July. We had another heatwave and so I didn’t wear a lot of makeup, but when I did this was great. I reviewed the Chanel foundation here. The Essence concealer has been my new favorite from the drugstore. Such a good affordable gem! Find my full thoughts here. The Catrice Eye Foundation has been in my rotation for nearly a year now and it is still going strong.

Mascara & Brows

For mascara I was using the waterproof version of the L’Oreal Paradise Extatic. Great mascara but such a shame it didn’t last long. I think I used this for about 6 weeks and then it started to smell really really bad. Had to throw it out. For brows, this has been my go to combo for months now: Soap & Glory Archery Brows & Essence Make Me Brow.

Eyeshadow Base

You know I double prime my lids as it really helps against creasing and cancelling out redness and the appearance of veins. My usual combo is the MAC Painterly Paintpot and The Body Shop Color Crush eyeshadow in no. 13. Look at that pan!

Bronzer & Powder

The bronzers I used this month were both from the drugstore. The Maybelline City Bronzer instantly made it to my no. 1 bronzer of the moment when I started using it. It is so so great, but I decided to retire it for a bit to try my new Catrice bronzer which you will see below. The Catrice Bouncy Bronzer is a bit of a weird one but one that I unexpectedly liked a lot, but again it is time to move on to something else.

Hourglass Diffused Light is still going strong. I have hit major pan now and the powder is wearing down more and more every time I use it. I have been using it for months now but I think I still have 2 – 3 more months of use in this left. It is such a stunning powder. It is not too best at keeping oils at bay in super hot weather though, but it works for me 90% of the time.

Blush & Highlight

I put two highlighters in my rotation this time around. The Balm’s Mary Loumanizer was kept for another round as I tried to hit pan on it (but didn’t succeed). The other highlighter I have been using is Prosecco Pop by Becca. The Becca highlight came in the double compact together with Pamplemousse blush a nice bright coral shade for the summer time. If I wanted something more paired down I went with Hourglass’ Diffused Heat. I also continued to use the Benefit Coralista boxed powder. After months of using that (and hitting pan!) I have decided to retire it for the time being.

Eyeshadow Palettes

Since I am always trying out eyeshadow palettes, I never know exactly what I will be using in advance, so I never pick my eyeshadow palettes during my shop my stash. I always select them as the month progresses and then show you afterwards. This month I was using the Nabla Secret palette, Menagerie Cosmetics Feral palette and my Colourpop singles. I was able to pull some stunning looks out of these which I will be sharing in future blog posts (but not any time soon as I have about 60+ eyeshadow palette reviews awaiting posts).

So what am I shopping my stash for in the month of August in 2019? Well, a different foundation! I bought the Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude foundation last year and hadn’t really tried it properly yet. High time I got around to that!

I am replacing the L’Oreal mascara with this one from Annabelle that has a very interesting wand. For lipstick I am still really digging my Catrice Power Plumping Gel Lipstick in 030 Speak Up! I am also pulling a new primer and fixing spray. Both are by Catrice. The fixing spray I have used before. The primer is brand new for fall/ winter 2019 and was featured in my recent new in Catrice video.

The biggest change this month are the cheek products: I am throwing in a new bronzer, new blushes and new highlighters. Everything else is staying the same! The bronzer I will be using is the new Catrice Clean ID bronzer, which was looking very promising. For highlight I am going back to an OG for the summer time: Dior Nudeskin Highlighter. And because I am now trying all these new Catrice products, I am also throwing in the Luminice HIghlight & Blush palette.

Finally, the blushes I will be using are Catrice Glowing Blush Box in Dolce Vita, which is, guess what?!, yep, new for fall/ winter 2019. I also wanted to try my H&M blush in Vintage Red more. And for that shimmering pinky coral flush that I have been loving all summer I threw in The Balm’s Hot Mama.

The Conclusion

These are the products I am shopping my stash for in the month of August. What makeup will you be using?

  1. Hello!
    I’m currently using
    – IT cosmetics your skin but better foundation
    – Essence You Better Work Volume & Curl Mascara
    – Pixi beauty eye shadow palette
    – physicians formula butter bronzer
    – Too faced melted matte liquid lipstick
    and Morphe setting spray

    • I love the IT Cosmetics as well but keep it more for the winter time because of the skincare properties. And I love that bronzer too. Great picks!
