What I Wore #13

what I wore fashion outfit of the day winter 2020

From time to time I like documenting my outfits and recently I took quite some pictures again. And I like piling it together and see the patterns. This What I Wore is featured around two things: blazers and rewearing items. I figured it could be fun to show you how wearing the same piece in different ways can make for a very different outfit. So that is what this month’s fashion blog post is all about. What have you been wearing?

What I Wore #13 // 8 Winter 2020 Outfits

Sweater | Daisy Street
Skirt | Topshop
Tights | Primark
Shoes | Dr. Marten’s Emmeline

This first outfit is a repeat outfit that I think I have shown before. But I just think it is too fun not to share. The basics are super simple: all black with a bit of texture and then a bright pop of rainbow colors. The skirt is a denim skirt with a raw hem that I love. I paired it with my newest Dr. Marten’s which I have been loving wearing with skirt and dresses. The sweater I have had for a while now and it was one I found on Asos. It just adds just enough hysteria for this outfit to suit me and my fashion tastes.

For outfit no. 2 I wore a blazer: I wore this to a work visit. I like dressing up but not too much. My work place is quite casual and the business we educate for is quite casual too. So this was actually more dressed up than most of the students and people I dealt with that day. Still, the blazer is very me. Yes it has structure, but the manly cut and the red pied de poule print make this much more up my street. I wore it over a basic black dress to make sure the blazer would pop. For shoes, I wore a pair that I don’t wear that often: a pair of pointed toe Chelsea boots by Vagabond.

Apart from the t-shirt I am wearing, outfit no. 3 consists of items I rewore for this blog post. The blazer, skirt and shoes are all featured in other pictures here. I tried to create a mustard yellow base here with a solid t-shirt and a corduroy skirt. For a bit of print I threw on a black & white herringbone print blazer and kept the rest very basic and black. This is something I love doing: to create a simple black & white base and then throw on some other items to add a pop of color. And you know I love mustard yellow.

Wow I think we should consider adding a third pattern to this blog post: black! I have been wearing a lot of black items lately. It must be because it is winter. Here I wore two items that were featured in my most recent haul: the t-shirt and the blazer. It makes for a fun double print number. The jeans are the Topshop Straight Leg jeans in a washed black color and I paired it with a pair of chunky chelsea boots by Vagabond.

The next outfit also features a few items I am rewearing. The blazer we already saw paired with the yellow corduroy skirt. Here I am pairing it with wide leg navy corduroy trousers. I bought these from Monki over the summer and I hadn’t yet worn them. They are a tad long on me, so that makes it difficult to put and outfit together that is comfy and cool at the same time. I wore a pair of higher heeld boots with it that pair well with the grey of the t-shirt. That way the outfit is not too dark and somber, yet still has some print as well as some texture.

Jurk | H&M
Cardigan | Urban Outfitters
Tights | Primark
Shoes | Topshop

This outfit I wore yesterday on my working from home day. I wanted to really wear a dress that day so I threw on this floral print number. It has a button down front and the flowers all have a little red dot in the middle. That is why I decided to pair the dress with burgundy/ red items. The cardigan is an oldie but a goodie and you know that a dress + cardigan combo is one of my favorite thing to wear. I decided to throw on a pair of shoes I feel I should wear more often: a pair of burgundy patent leather booties with a triangular heel.

Just to show you how different this skirt can look with some different items, I decided to throw this one in. The leopard shirt is one I love to pair with skirts. It has a tighter fit and tucks easily into the hem of a skirt and that creates a nice break in the outfit. I often wear it with my burgundy corduroy skirt, but I decided to change it up and throw it on with the yellow one instead. Again more black items, which are staples in my wardrobe are use to round off the outfit.

Sweater | ZARA
Trousers | Monki
Shoes | Vagabond

This last outfit is my least favorite here as it makes me look quite boxy. I usually pair this sweater with a skinny trouser but I wanted to try it with a more wide legged pair. I think it still works alright, but it is just not the most flattering. The sweater is a chenille baby pink off the shoulder number I scored on sale 2 years ago when I first moved. I hadn’t worn it much until now as our winter has been quite mild. This sweater has been perfect as the exposed shoulder make it less warm and therefore perfect for the perpetual fall time we have been experiencing.

What have you been wearing this winter?

  1. I like how mixing and matching can change an outfit. It’s fun to do. I have been wearing a lot of black and warm sweats when I don’t go out. Yesterday I went to lunch with friends and I wore a vintage circa late 50’s red and black check dress with embroidery on the chest. I wore it once before around Christmas time.
